VFLnSFD was (per her posts) in contact with him and reported that he said that he had access issues and was working with Freak. He hasn’t posted since 12/4 or so after the supposed accidental lockout, which I never believed in, btw. I was a mod for a number of years on an unrelated forum, and I know how this works.

And SFD hasn’t posted for a week or so either, I think, so I think she has followed through on her vow to walk away. (Not saying at all that she is part of this whole Wizard of Oz shenanigans; only that she has reclaimed her life.)

His account goes back to the first Gruden threads. Here are the options:
— were his current posts legit continuations by the original UTVolinExile?
— or did someone hack an old account without his knowledge, take it over, and start posting?
— or did the original UTVolinExile hand over his account to someone else, as did Paul_Vol or whatever his name was, to someone in the MIT_Beaver category, and let them post under his name?

We Grudenites put a lot of faith in his interpretations of the supposed contract negotiations and insider phone calls and all the other tidbits that he posted.

If he was just another farcical account manipulating us into starting the ReVolution, I am beyond pissed. The ends do NOT justify the means. I would have been all on board with the revolt. You didn’t have to lie to me. I posted this as a reply to MIT_Beaver, btw, and never received a reply. Let’s all go be surprised about that.

I think that those of us who acted upon the posts by these guys deserve some explanation or at least (please pardon the overworked term) closure from our puppeteers.

Here's what I posted on the now-locked Gruden 50 thread in reply to MIT_Beaver. It is post #1084 on page 22 for those who have enough sense to go with the 50 posts per page option. Nothing added this evening; this is all my original rant from 12/7 :):

I am pissed off about being manipulated by you, even for a good cause. Did you and your friends (boosters, whomever) ever consider coming here and saying, Look guys, the reason UT football sucks is because of the death grip that Haslam has on the AD, and we want to overthrow it, and we want your help? Pretty effing condescending that you guys felt you had to fabricate and outright lie to get the fans on board. We are Volunteers. That name is not accidental. The ends do NOT justify the means.

I am grateful though that this stuff got stirred up. It would be lovely to think that one good, hard spring cleaning would do the trick, but obviously, this will be ongoing. Keep up the pressure everyone! Occupy the Hill!

I'm convinced that Gruden was for real (from the UT side), despite the HoH machinations, and that for whatever reason, he couldn't get beyond his cold feet. (As I posted yesterday, I was definitely nervous about setting the bar for UT HC hires at Grudenesque prices for the future; at least we've dodged that bullet.) I would really like to see at least some public acknowledgement - beyond what's in these threads - of what happened. I know we won't get all the picture, but something. The neener-neener people will never go away, but this information should be out there and acknowledged, no matter how grudgingly.

I fully understand that some might have walked away, and I'm not throwing rocks at them. I don't think that this has happened with everyone.

Why have the semi-insiders (not those who were supposedly in the inner circle, but those who were in communication with them) stopped posting on VN ?

IMO, Gruden was never in play.

All of the things that were taken as absolute facts such as buying Jimmy Haslam's house on Lyons View, etc. were never proven but, yet, they remained "facts."

Membership at Cherokee, a jet, $10.3 plus $7MM for assistants...were all accepted and if anyone dared raise a hand, those 4 magical letters were used and used often.

After a while it got so convoluted there was no way to unravel the ball of crap.

What's sad is a good poster, IMO, (Deerpark) was basically ran off by the Grudenites because they chose to back Beav and once Beav tweeted something about DP and Adidas this place went nuts.

It sucks, but it's the world we live in now. It's the mindset of torch everything in your path.

--btw, where are all the drunks? Did everyone's livers simultaneously go into eff-you mode? (which in fact might be wise for the frequent flyers here)

I talked to Tuesday off board and he blocked me from his phone around the time beav started to back-peddle

This drunk was sleeping. I’ll give you the dirt I have. At the time, people were skewering the insiders so bad and I didn’t know whether he was or not. I kind of just assumed he wanted to see my boobs.
