If you ran into Butch Jones..........

I'd just ask him if losing his job and receiving all the hate was worth proving D4H wrong so often.

Why didn't you go for 2 in OT against Texas A&M in 2016 when they jumped off sides and you had the ball on the 1 1/2 yard line for the win, on the road.

IMO, that sent a bad message to the team. CBJ had zero faith in his offense to get a yard and a half.

I think that is when he started to lose the locker room.

The players worked their asses off all year, spring, summer, and fall, yet the head coach has no faith in getting 1 1/2 yard on the road, for the WIN. SMDH!

Actually, I wouldn't ask him this because I would get some BS answer.

I would instead tell him, "Not going for 2 against TAM in 2016 was a major mistake, regardless of what the outcome might of been. It sent a terrible message to the team."

People on here hate Fulmer who won us a national championship while falling all over Jones who never won us nothing and made Tennessee foot ball a laughing stock. Go figure.
Who's falling all over Jones? I haven't seen one post that says anything close to that.

It must be a generational thing. Common courtesy confused with fawning. If you don't show hate it must be love right?
I reckon that's it.

I do find it pretty discouraging at the complete lack of class that some 'fans' are showing in this thread though. For the most part I didn't understand why UT got so much hate from other schools and fan bases. Now I am starting to understand.

I would say I bet your replacement doesn't have as good a record as you five years from now. Fulmer botched the hire. You bring in the top coaches in the business and he brings in novices. Time will tell. Those top ten recruiting classes are now down to #45.

And here we have another nominee for “dumbest thing ever said on Volnation”....

Hope you fail at something someday and folks treat you like you think you should treat others when they fail.

There is a difference at not completely succeeding at something where you tried your best verses not succeeding because you didn't care and purposely failed. Jones falls into the former not the latter.

He saved UT from APR penalties. We had two years where we ended up ranked and had years worth celebrating. He was able to recruit some really good athletes to UT. We have some recent NFL players that we call can be proud of, both on and off the field.

Did he win the SEC? No. But that is just one of the things that a coach at Tennessee is expected to do. Fail at the APR, recruit players that keep UT in the news for the wrong reason and that is just as much a failure as not winning the SEC.

You thank him for the things he accomplished and keeping the boat afloat off the field - because if he had not we would be in a worse mess right now.

I would stop, put it into reverse, and run into him again and again.

With all the money he took from Tennessee, the real question is, do you really think he cares what you think? He didn't seem to care, year after year, as he stuffed his pockets.... Anything you could/would say won't change a thing, last season speaks for itself!!!!

You wouldn't say a word.

For two reasons. 1. You aren't as tough and witty in real life as you are on here. 2. Deep down you know being bad at your job isn't a legit reason to be harassed and assaulted on the street.

Post of the Year!!! :hi::hi:

.

I'd probably make eye contact, chuckle a bit, and keep walking. Nothing worthwhile could result from a conversation with that individual.
