Pruitt, Fulmer, Helton and Friend Visit Cade Mays

Short of handing him a briefcase full of cash, I hope they use the Full Court Press on every 5* we can get!!!:rock::rock:

.

Tennessee is better with Mays than without him but he's not Trey Smith. I just don't see him stepping in from day one and being an immediate starter. It sucks but I'm not worried, we're going to have a much better Oline than we've had in a long time.

Just saw the group photo from this visit on television.

If it's any indication of how the meeting went, everyone appeared to be beaming. And AD Coach Fulmer looked like a Cheshire cat.

Something comes to mind......Alabama Coach, Escalade, truckload of cash.......just saying. Can't exactly put my finger on it.

This is a tough one to lose but I'm not worried about Pruitt's ability to recruit when he has had a chance to build relationships with players.

Man can we run Dabo out of here?

Shoulda had state troopers meet him at the front of the neighborhood and do an absolute cavity search on him, his car, and anything else they could find. Would have occupied him for a couple of hours.

Kerbyson just said on the radio he talks with him often and he’s sticking with his top 3. He wants to play for NC’s ASAP.

I get that, but if this has always been his goal, I'd like to hear the pitch from Butch. I think the smell of burning mattresses from Currie fiasco probably did us in.

Being judgement day honest if Cade doesn’t want to be with the Vols then I wish him well wherever he goes. Obviously we’d love to have him but man guys don’t get so hung up on one recruit. He’ll be a great player wherever he goes and I THINK we’ll have a few great ones too. Actually if he were to come here Trey Smith has set an incredibly high standard for incoming freshmen OL. Just being honest here and not being sour grapes I don’t think CM grades out anywhere near TS.....so expectations here would be unacheiveably and ridiculously high for him. Cade has to do what he feels is best and we need to leave him alone as fans.....

Did he think UT was going to play for a National Championship when he first committed? I don't understand this being his aim now if it wasn't then.

It's not that. Cade committed over 2 years ago. He truly believed at that juncture, by the time he arrived on campus, the rebuilding would be complete. And based on 14, 15, and 16, that appeared correct.
He didn't really go through a recruiting process until it became apparent that there was going to be a change. When he visited these schools it showed him what's out there and the possibility of playing for titles.

You don't know that. Mays is every bit the physical specimen and prospect Trey is. He's probably one of a handful of Olinemen who are physically READY now.

If the meeting was at the High School and not in home, yeah, he's probably going to Clemson. Can't say as I blame him with all the injuries last year and the craziness.

He’s not coming to UT. He’s 100% committed to Clemson, read his twitter page and see photo he posted last night with his brother , Dabo and Clemson OL coach at his house.

So what, now what...many blessings Cade!

Completely agree. We have to lock down the 4* and 5* instate players, especially ones in our own back yard. Losing a 5* legacy player who grew up a Vol fan would be hard to swallow. Even worse if it's damn Dabo and Clemson again. No reason we shouldn't get the majority of those type players. What was the reasoning for him to just up and drop us from his faves? Was it something Butch did or something different?

On top of Butch's half decade of under developing most of his talent and all of his lineman*, we followed it with a train wreck coaching search.

I'd love for Mays to come here. If he was my kid or my best friend's kid, I'd tell him politely meet the new coach and AD, then get out of Knoxville. Its not his job to sort out what the grown ups haven't gotten right in the past decade. Yes, I'm a Vol fan, but I think the adults in Mays life should encourage him to do the best thing for him. Pruitt looks great, but I couldn't counsel a kid that good to pick UT.

*Trey Smith wasn't developed, he's just that good from day one.

Glhal, you need to find a new team to root for.

Why, because I could give a kid honest advice about what the best situation would be for him? When did it become more important to root for a team than give a kid choosing where to go to college honest advice?

We have been terrible when it comes to developing offensive lineman. We really don't know that we have our act together. Clemson and Georgia do.

If it was your kid, and you weren't willing to say that honestly, you've put your fandom ahead of your parenting. And that's crap a position btate.
