'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

Yeah the fact that it isn’t in-home took away any hope I saw when I saw the Hubbs quote. They will need to nail this pitch just to get a shot at an in-home visit. Just don’t see it happening. Oh well.

I agree, this pitch is to get an in-home visit. I think it will turn out to be successful though. Cade is an 18 year old kid, do you know how hard it is going to be for him to say no to Phil Fulmer when says "So how about kid, you mind if I come over for dinner sometime this week?"

I mean near impossible for him to look Phil Fulmer in the eyes and say "No, I am going to play for Clemson."

Regardless it shows Pruitt isn't just going to sit back and take no for an answer without a fight. I'll give us at least a 1% rocky balboa bloody mess chance with Pruitt and Fulmer face to face with him.

Absolutely on that fact. Loving that Pruitt isn’t backing down from any recruiting battles. All these offeres to CA and Hawaii, love it. I wouldn’t let up on Cade until the days he’s signed at Clemson, but I just don’t see it happening. Would love to be wrong though.

“In talking to some people today, the timing hasn’t worked out for an in-home visit because the family was hunting and then when they could earlier in the week, Pruitt was on the west coast. The family is meeting at Catholic with Pruitt and Fulmer.

At the end of the day, Cade has done this the right way in not dragging TN through the ringer as he decommitted and didn’t go public for a month. No matter what happens, IMO this is more of a poor timing with the changes and lack of direction through the last two months.

They are going to listen so anything is possible.”

We’ll see if Fulmer and Pruitt can change his mind with this last minute push. But I doubt it. My dad told me where I was going to college. Hopefully Kevin will do the same! 😂

If, God forbid, Dabo died tonight.... what would Cade do? I’ll guarantee he wouldn’t go to Clemson. He’s not committing to schools he’s committing to coaches. Never a smart way to do this. Anything could happen at Clemson. Pick the school you’ll be excited to visit 30-40 years from now when you’re old and gray. Clemson just entered the top 25 all time winningest programs, and that’s after the incredible run they’ve had the last 7-8 years. Tennessee is still in the top 10 and that’s after the worst decade in program history. There’s no comparison. Tennessee will be back and Clemson will go away again, probably sooner than later. Dabo is their secret sauce. Our program, traditions and facilities make up our secret sauce. All we are missing is Ws but that can change over night. Clemson is missing everything else and that takes decades to build. Not just a good run for 7-8 years. Just ask Oregon. They were Clemson 5 years ago.

Per sources at Catholic, Pruitt and Fulmer’s pitch to Cade during their visit at his high school was not a high pressure sales pitch or negative recruiting against Clemson or why he shouldn’t go there. All they’ve asked is that Cade choose to not sign during the early signing period so that he can get more familiar with the staff and truly get recruited by them. They understand it’s tough to build a relationship in a few weeks. They’ve asked him to let them recruit him after the dead period and if he still wants to go elsewhere, they will respect his choice. Great tactic and it wouldn’t hurt him at all. He can simply sign financial aid agreements to his top 3 choices, then enroll in mid-Jan before signing in February.

Very interesting if he chooses not to sign next week.

That's how it is though & it won't change. When you're talking about the elite programs of the country, most can offer the same thing regarding tradition, facilities, fan base, etc etc. An extremely small number of kids commit to a school just because it's their "dream school".

The difference maker is the coaches/coaches on staff that have developed the best relationships & proven they can win at a high level.

That’s obviously false because Cade hates Tennessee and has been a jerk to us and our players🙄
