Do you believe we have a creator, aka "God"?

Thank you Joe coming from you that means a lot. I may not believe but I don't look down on anyone that does. I know I could be wrong and I sincerely hope I am. I'm an atheist not an anti theist.

Thank you very much for being respectful, I do enjoy your post. My Dad calls everybody Hoss, every time you post it I think of him. :)

Is faith in the flying spaghetti monster just as reasonable as faith in the scientific method?

Nice conflation. You obviously like being obtuse or just naive. Take your pick.

I have always found it strange why those who dont believe in God, feel that those who do need to justify or validate their reasons for doing so.

I talked to the Lord today, I have a personal relationship with him. I know Him, He is my Lord and my Friend! He has answered many prayers and has been a great provider of my needs.
You may scoff all you like but it does not change the fact that He is alive and well and lives and works in the hearts of his people! Just as I have a relationship with other people I have a relationship with my Lord!

Did he talk back?

Yeah, it's crazy to expect people to have good reasons for their beliefs.

What did I conflate, by the way? I used that example to show that there is nothing that you can't believe based on faith alone. The scientific method works, as has been demonstrated on countless occasions. Praying to the FSM only works at the rate of chance, sort of like praying to any other god.

Most atheists aren't concerned with why someone believes in something, or cares; we just don't want them to dictate our lives with their beliefs in magic books.

Did he talk back?

It sure wouldn't be good conversation if he didn't speak from time to time.
If you want to know God, you can. But just know that he will never come on your terms, it will always be on his terms and his way.
You can live this life without him as well, but when your time on Earth is finished and it is time to die, you will be very interested in the after life and the things of God then. But it may very well be too late!

Except the Bible isn’t a magic book; but rather a compilation of actual history, poetry, philosophy, prophecy, and eyewitness accounts.

It has never claimed to be magic. But you know that...

Fascinating, do you hear his voice or is more of a feeling? Does he tell you to do things or just generally give advice?

I see you struck a nerve with a couple of our members. I would like to know if he talks back also. It's a legitimate question. I've known people who claim God talks to them. Other than that they seem quite normal. I would like to know how God speaks to people and what he says.

When you have a close relationship with God, he always seems to get his point across in many ways.

Question open to the whole group: When God speaks to people, why doesn't he give them all the same message? Lots of people claim to have received messages from God, but these messages rarely match up with what he told the other guy.

Is God being inconsistent?
Are these people lying? If so, how do I differentiate between the liars and the truth tellers?
