Where did life begin? (Merged)

Do you believe we have a creator, aka "God"?

I think both sides have problems to deal with. Infinite regress should be just as troubling for creationists who point out that abiogenisis isn't possible. Pointing out that something can't come come from nothing and then falling back to 'god did it' is absurd.

I don't know what happened to start it all off, I'd be happy to change my position with 'evidence' that wasn't foisted by men with agenda's.

Which is why either or demands some form of blind faith. There is no proof of "God" as a divine being just like there is no proof of abiogenesis. Those religious folks have a blind faith in a higher power that created all life. Those that believe abiogenesis have a blind faith that the four key chemical compounds came together in just the right time and place and were given a catalyst of some sort to create "life."

We're not so different, you and I.

I suppose it comes down to how one perceives the application of the term. Absence (or lack of) a belief in a deity doesn't require 'faith' in my opinion any more than you need to have 'faith' to accept that garden pixies don't exist.

Just because someone tells you about the existence of the magical garden pixies, sans evidence, doesn't mean you need faith to disregard your lack of belief.

Regarding abiogensis, I think it's hard for humans to contemplate the length of time that the earth marinated in entropy. I have a hard time wrapping my head around 50 years, I don't think it's possible in our minds to perceive just how long billions of years are.

So, the God of Abraham is the God of the Bible?

The God of the bible is the God that the Hebrews served, which is the God Moses served, which is the God Paul served, whose name is Jesus Christ. Not the god of Ismael or the god of the muslims.
their god lines up more with nimrod.

by the way, Jesus loves and died for muslims too! if they will repent and receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour they can go to heaven too!!

No, I was equating faith in the context of either religion or science, one not necessarily being predicated on the other. I have faith there is a higher being, God if you will, that I can't explain or prove. But the faith is there in a higher power.

Other may have faith in science, even though they cannot prove the theory of life evolving correct. They have "faith" that's the way it happened, though it's only a theory that cannot (at least with current scientific techniques) be replicated.

You don't have to have faith God doesn't exists or abiogenisis didn't happen as one isn't reliant on the other. Abiogenisis is currently a theory without proof taken on faith that's the way it "happened." Just like the theory of God is without proof.

Seems like it's been that long since we won the SEC East.

Otherwise, it's still just a theory of abiogenisis at the moment.

Very few indoctrinated into islam from birth can wrap their head around the idea that Jesus wasn't just a prophet.

I am afraid that you are right, but there has been many muslim converts! Most people just simply love sin more than they do God though. whether it be false religion or just out and out sin such as drunkenness or fornication or you can just fill in the blank! But praise God, Jesus died for poor old sinners!!!!!!!!!!:clapping:

Muslims have a much less liberal idea of what is and isn't sin.

Many people dream up a picture of God that in no way lines up with the God of the bible, thus creating an idol in their own mind! Our only source to truly know God is the bible!

I think you are right friend. If the bible calls it sin, then its sin! simple as that! but the muslims believe that you can chop someones head off for not converting to islam! that is a distorted view of god.
before all the comments, I know not all believe that!

Is it a sin to admire God's perfection when He made something this fine?

If that's not Divine Intervention to create a masterpiece, I don't know what is.

As a young GI drunkenness and fornication were my two favorite pastimes. You’re making me reminisce about the 90s.
