I hate to say this. But I'm starting to realize why it seems we can't land the home run coaches.. saban has ruined the sec.. most coaches are not going to stake their career on coming here and playing saban every year.

If we want to win the sec, odds are we will have to play saban twice..

Saban gets most of the recruits he wants.

The expectation here is to beat bama.

Ask yourself, if saban doesn't have bama rolling like he does. What does the coaching look like around the sec.. saban ran off urban at florida.... think about that..

I'm afraid we are stuck at a crossroads until saban retires..

Hear me out: What if the whole "Official Jon Gruden" thread was really a University of Tennessee long-term Stockholm syndrome experiment? To see how much crap a fan base could take. With you eventually falling in love with your captors and their code words- such as "Soon!" Or "It's Gruden til it ain't" being the mantra word that deepened the bond. What if when it's all completed they give each of us the split of the $340 million that was to be for "improvements to Neyland". What if Beav and AV werethe captors, leading us to our own demise by following blindly down the hall to today/tomorrow's slaughterhouse "presser"???? "Gruden's in this room- come look through this hole"....Hmmmmm....🤤🤔

I think the boosters are to the point where they're tired of the unknown. I don't like Pruitt, I don't think he's of the caliber we should be going at, but I also think we're at the point where we need a face of the football program so we can start getting recruits. If the accounts are accurate regarding Meyer and Smart being in Knoxville the last few days, then clearly they're recruiting in our own neighborhood and the boosters see this. They realize we need to save the class we have, and the only way to do that is to have an actual coach. Thus, I think at this point, they'll accept anyone with a decent resume. I am anti-Pruitt like the rest of us, but I also see the writing on the wall...:mf_surrender:

1) Grudens own statements along the way. Rocky Top song reference, never say never to nothing, awkward MNF thing, and NO public denial. Folks, IMO he may be a huge publicity seeking diva but his son goes to UT. 2). This group of boosters effectively mobilized Volnation and got the Shiano hire stopped. That had something to do with the boosters not wanting it,but WE were the voices that stopped it. These same folks who organized that whole deal, now are so inept that they can’t land a big name? Sorry, not buying it. I personally like MIT Beaver but I believe he was part of the plan to cause change in TN AD department. That whole plan was pretty dang complicated and well thought out in my mind.
3). How many times has the media told us we were close to a deal or had signed someone only for us to find out they were full of poop? Some of these coaches were not even offered deals but the media had a hayday. I think Fulmer and above mentioned boosters are throwing out all kinds of stuff as part of the plan. Now let’s move onto UTPaulVol and our beloved AtlVol. Folks, I think if UT was about to hire someone, AtlVol would be here to tell us that it wasn’t happening. He knows how we feel about our team and I just don’t see him letting us get a shock like that without a warning. Then UTPaulVol and his Gif gifts yesterday. I think that’s about telling GRUDEN to poop or get off the pot and then the suit is saying done deal and time to suit up. Paulvol did tell us couple days ago to put on our seatbelts and helmets and get ready cause it was going to get wild.
4) Fulmer loves this university and it has to have killed him to see it tank in the last few years. He can’t think that taking on another unproven promotion basically is going to get it done.

I think Gruden is involved in this and fully on the table. I don’t think he will take over until around Christmas. You may be looking at his staff being interviewed IMO

I could maybe go along with this except for two things:

1. Why would Pruitt leave his alma mater to come to UT for the same job? There is little rationale to that. If he is involved it is for head coach and nothing else.

2. Too much smoke around the DC's. These are legit leaks not rumors. There has been absolutely zero smoke surrounding Gruden since Fulmer took over.

If you listen to the interview (link after first paragraph) it starts out talking about how Pruitt loved the night life and the ladies when he was at FSU. Looks like he is B. Petrino 2.0

Why do people continue to bring up the mans past. Geez! No one is perfect and he has since showed that he can put his past behind him and move on with his life. I am sure we all have something in our past we are not proud of. So leave his past alone and reserve judgement and see what he does when he gets here

Exactly. If it were Pruitt it should have clearly been announced already. There’s no reason to beat around the bush with the way things are currently.

The fact that there’s so much activity with little to no transparency from the AD may show that the only thing going on is just talk.

Thank you. Coasty. I love when folks try to alter history to make themselves feel better.

If we do hire Pruitt, I will be disapointed and question the viability of his tenure. While Battle is a fine gentleman, I can't take another Bill Battle era at UT.

I was physically sick when Jones was hired.... Seriously, it caused violent vomiting. I don't feel the same way about Pruitt, especially if he is bringing Lupoi and possibly Lindsey as OC. Its not the hire I want, but I think we will be OK with that staff.

How many lateral moves has the man made? If you hire a guy that is questionable with better choices on the table then you get what you deserve.
