Pro style I'm sure

Pro-style won't beat anyone named Bama, UF, or UGA (but especially Bama - that's why Les Miles did so poorly against Bama despite his athletes while OM, TAMU and AU pulled off wins; pro-style plays directly to Bama's strengths) even Bama runs some spread these days. You can run mixed concepts but pure pro-style is a dying system.

I see the RF regulars have deluded themselves into thinking this will be a good hire.

Is it just wishful thinking, or do you all really think this will be any different than the last 2 hires?

And don't mention recruiting. Recruiting hasn't been UT's problem. X's and O's, gameday adjustments, and player development have been the issue.

I thought there would be considerably more outrage. Or at the least, numbness to the blinkered, immutable Good-Ol'-Boy mentality of the UTAD administration. But this proves Fulmer is just more of the same.

And the regulars on the RF actually seem excited.

This is a bad hire. Full stop.

Given the three choices set before us, what exactly is your preference?

Vols fans need to stop giving other Vols fans lectures.

Maybe all the infighting that's polluted this program for so long isn't just within the AD...

The guy has had top 5 ranked defenses at three different programs. I’m pretty sure he is good with Xs and Os and player development.

HC - Jeremy Pruitt
DC - Tosh Lupoi
OC - Tee Martin

Looks like its gonna be this group.

I actually really like this grouping. All are younger guys that are highly energetic and have been around top-tier programs, so they know what it takes to win at a high level. Those three all have the ability to recruit that top 5 type talent which is something that definitely never hurts.

That staff's potential would have me excited and more than willing to give them their fair shake at our program.

Steele is a horrid hire...You don't know what you are talking about, the whole RF is against him, except for 2-4 morans.

Pruitt is a really good coach, and a #1 level recruiter. If he can avoid getting us in a hogpen situation, he is a good hire.

Tucker is not Steele level bad hire, but he is meh.

If it’s Pruitt it’s a good hire. Not a great hire. Odds are he will be good, not great. Pruitt and Tee is a great hire. Won’t be able to keep those two together for long though. Hopefully Tee would stay long enough for Pruitt to get his experience.

What I hope we learn regardless is a poorly run football program costs more than paying a well run program. We will pay around $20 million for people to not work for us over the next 3-4 years. That’s inexcusable.

I don’t think Pruitt will get us to title contending, but maybe he stops the bleeding so when we do this again we are ready to be elite again. The last 15 years have made it clear that you must have an elite athletic department to have an elite football program.

If it's Pruitt with respected assistants, I'll convince myself to get pumped for a solid hire and recruiting.
But because we are sitting here expecting news or leaks in hours and Steele is even a contender, my doubts about the decision-making are far from removed.

Pruitt seems way outside Fulmer’s comfort zone. If he makes this hire my confidence level in him goes way up for the same reasons you have doubts. He would be making the better hire instead of doing what is comfortable. That’s not been the case for the UTAD.
