Why does everybody think tee would be a great coach? Is it because he's a VFL? Somebody convince me. Is his coaching ability based on his mediocre stint at usc, or because he is from greenbow alabama? I hope I'm wrong about Tee though.

Because the UT is a special place. A place that he completely loves. He understands what it means to be a champion in Knoxville. If he kicks a kid off the field for not practicing like a champion he has credibility. He won the national championship as QB who had to work his ass off for 3 yrs behind the God of UT football. You don’t think he gets the respect of his players here? I mean come on. You can’t tell me you don’t think he has a passion for this place like no other coach in the country. In recruiting you can be a great recruiter. But to be the best recruiter you have to have a passion and a belief in everything you are selling. Tee is absolutely a home run for the UT. I would 100% back him as HC. If we can get him as OC wow! Side note* I think he would be a risk hire for other teams. Being from here means a lot!

My point is that money talks. Sure, in a perfect world we could have an all Vol coaching team and would win 11+ games every year. But that isn’t likely to happen, so we shouldn’t disregard someone’s ability to lead us to great things because of where he started his coaching career. That’s absurd. Either way, I’m done arguing it. Hopefully this is all a moot point as Gruden comes through in dramatic fashion to accept the job.

But I’m pretty certain that isn’t going to happen, and we will all have to accept this hire not named Gruden. Or cheer for another team.

I knew you were venting. I was just proving a point.

We've been dealt a truckload of lemons for a decade. I'm tired of trying to make lemonade, but what can we do? We aren't switching allegiances (I went to S. Carolina for my graduate degree but that ain't happening). So, I guess I'll add the sugar if you'll squeeze the lemons. And let's hope for the best.
Ain’t enuff damn suga to sweeten this bs. It’s just a bunch of bs that we’re the #1 sec in money last year & we act like a MAC conference as far as spending it on a coach then expect the fans who drive from all over the place to come support this mediocre bunch of chit

Like where they grew up and went to school....

The point is he is a professional and you guys are acting like children because he currently wears the wrong colors.

colors have nothing to do with it. I know this is hard for you to understand. You are looking at it like this. Since Kirby is doing good at Ga then Pruitt will do good at Tennessee. I wonder how many other schools went after Pruitt or Steele or Tucker for a HC job?

Ok I'll try and make some sense of this gobbledygook you spew. If you state something as fact, there doesn't seem to be much of a question does there?

1.I am married
2.I have two daughters who played for Pat Summitt

would you like to tell us a little bit about yourself? are you suave? do you use hairgel? your username conjures an image of a hairdo with a little swoosh in the front of the bangs area. maybe even frosted tips. please tell me i'm right about the tips

You’re serious? Lol. A lot! MSU offered him the gig and he turned it down.

I'm not using the transitive property. I'm simply saying that you should step back from the ledge and give the man a chance. He's a solid coach and a great Recruiter.

It absolutely talks. And UT is not willing to go really big to make the big statement.

For example, if UT had targeted Chris Petersen from the beginning, and then approached his agent with 2+ million more than he is currently making, would he listen? Of course he would.

The quality of the pool of candidates mirrors what you are willing to spend. And it doesn't matter what business you are in.

They'd rather go 0-12 with someone who wore orange in college than win with someone who may have wore Red at one point.

good luck with that. I have no desire to go 0-8 in the SEC ever again. WE've always recruited in that state. I'm betting a ton of Vols players wore red as kids. hell, some of them still probably wear red on the weekends during their gang initiations. Are the bloods still a thing in Atlanta?

It isn’t always the end all be all, either. Petersen is happy with his situation, they made the playoffs last year. He is on the upswing as it is, and is probably destined for the NFL sooner than later. It wouldn’t make sense for him to come here, regardless of money.

Oh the money was there for gruden. The boosters were willing to pay for that. Like Atlanta Vol said you can’t just throw money at someone and expect them to come. Especially when that person doesn’t “need” the money.

My point was to the Neyland renovation of 340 million and butchs and curries buy out. You can’t expect haslam or Ergen to say hey I got that 5 million and haslam you get that 12 million. That’s not how wealthy people operate.

ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE:

Do not be surprised if the media acts like gruden was never a real possibility. Any coach that gruden would have brought in wouldn’t go on record. Think about that. Anytime a reporter asks you a question...expect it to be printed. Therefore, that said coach will deny, deny and deny.

I believe they did so don’t take this as me disputing but why not take another offer to a top proven coach that was willing to listen just doesn’t make sense

Gundy....Money will never speak to Gundy more than staying in Stillwater will.

I'm using him as an example. If you let it be known that you are paying big dollars, your candidate pool will look a whole lot different than what we are hearing about UT.

Okay, boys and girls, I've enjoyed it. But, the Scotch is sending me to bed. Getting old....

I’m pretty sure they opened the pocket book. Sadly, we just are in a state of transition, and many peoples situations were just better where they were or were offered elsewhere. It is what it is.

He’s had the best players money could buy at bammer that doesn’t mean he’s as solid as everyone is saying. What’s he proved as a HC. It’s not that he’s at bama it’s the fact that we gotta bs settle for the unknown every dang time a coaching hire has to be made. Why not just once go out & make the hire that shows you got huge balls & shoot the moon
