If it's not Gruden, then Les coupled with Tee gives Fulmer the best chance to rally the fans. I know some don't agree with Les, but he is the most proven realistic candidate out there.
I agree, one way or another everybody needs closure.
If I based improvement off the info provided hes not any good. Anyone can recruit to Tennessee Butch and Dooley proved that.
If Miles was dead set on the old school why in the world would it be out there that hes chatted with Tee and in turn Tee told Phil hed return to Tennessee if Les or Gruden were the pick...
I get it people want thier guy and have thier reasons but there is no way Phil can risk a hire like that or his career and the coaches will likely end before they even get going good
All of this is why my faith in Gruden is all but gone. He has spent a decade enjoying the role of being the hottest "available" coach on the market. I am not sure he wants to risk his legend by taking over our mess right now. I believe he loves Tennessee but not enough to put himself or his family under the scrutiny that would come from taking the job. We have built him up to be a superhero that would equal instant success and he could very well be but there would be very little tolerance for any failure. I am sure he is aware of all of this and I'm afraid that's why he will end up turning us down.
I see us ending up with either a young up and comer looking for his first big job with something to prove or an out of work older veteran who just wants to coach again and isn't really worried about proving anything.
I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade or sway opinions. This is just where I'm at and hope I am once again dead wrong.
To my volnation family,
I came home from the whole thing with my mom passing (coroner's and funeral home loading her body and trying to find all the pertinent info to take to the FH this morning) and sat down with my laptop, just to get on the board for a little distraction.
I was absolutely overwhelmed with the outpouring of support i received in this thread. absolutely stunned. i cried reading your posts, but it was a different sort of tears than i'd been shedding. i don't know what to say. thank you seems so feeble.
well, gotta go take care of business. dread it. gonna be a long week. we will have some arrangements in SC, then transported to hometown TN for service and burial.
please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Nothing wrong with your opinion, but while we have issues with depth and coaching there is talent on this team. And look back at what Saban inherited, that roster was way low on talent. Much lower than ours and look what he did in short order. Gruden would recruit just as well. Many of our problems were terrible coaching decisions and coaches not being able to develop talent. Our players didn't have no x and o guidance at all. Just my thoughts. SOON! Get GRUDEN!
Sry Boro, I just hate the lets beg Brohm crap.
Why beg someone who wont live up to his end of the deal
If he was that good wouldnt it be feesable that he should be better than 12-6 at Purdue?
Well sure, not even close. One is a disaster waiting to happen (old dude with HC in waiting = conflict) vs a young superstar.
You sure? Its still not showing on his post history. (Sorry if already addressed; endlessly playing catch-up.)
I choose to believe that silence by AtlantaVol and others, awkward silences on MNF, plus mysterious disappearances by certain posters indicates that good news is about to happen.
Thats just me though. Im an optimist by nature.
Smh. He took a Purdue program that won NINE games the previous 4 years...COMBINED and had them to 6, shooting for 7 in year 1. Lost to Wiscy by 8. That is like taking the 90s Vandy team and getting them to a bowl in year 1 while taking UT to the wire.
