Are we sure about Brohm signing as fact? There are some industry people saying that scenario never happened.

I find it amazing that Florida State targeted Willie Taggart from the beginning of the rumors that Jimbo would listen to A&M, yet our brass didn’t go all in on landing him. Smh
It’s really hard to believe in anyone up there at this point. Currie I had no faith in, I actually believe Phil wants us to be great but I’m still at the stage of “i’ll Believe the culture change when I see it “

Agree

So based on these leftovers, who do you want?

Brohm
Morris
Venables

For me

Question. Did Currie ever meet with Schiano before Sunday?

It would take more time than I have this morning to dig it up, but I believe he did.

I want to say the OSU AD mentioned something about them having conversations prior to last Sunday.

Flew there Saturday when no one could find him at the game.

If it's Steele, I suppose he can surround himself with good help, but I worry about a coach who has problems with nerves. I could see him as DC, but... we are not the nicest fan base when unhappy.

I can not believe Phil hasn't talked to Tee. I think (HOPE) that the Press isn't getting the whole picture.

How can anybody rationalize a Steele hire? It is absolute garbage. Pruitt has more cache and spunk, on the trail than that dude. Why in the world would we hire a guy to be HC that is not even that good at coordinating a defense? This is so stupid to even have to be talking like this seriously might happen. The only hope I have is that this really is a smokescreen, and Phil is going to make a good hire that will be a gigantic relief compared to Steele....now that is how you would do a smokescreen, not the way that idiot Currie did it. Making us think he was going big, and then trying to trot the limpnoodle lamebutt pedophile enabler out.

My hope is that Phil is doing what Currie should have done - float a name at the bottom of the list to set expectations and eventually have someone near the top standing behind the podium.

However, hoping someone is playing three-dimensional chess is a fool’s errand.

Three dudes who I think could be a top coach in time

1. Brohm
2. Morris
3. Venables

Early on all, but there is something there for these three

4. Pruitt- I think his character is going to bite him one day

Nothing in Steele inspires me. Tee is extremely early

Hoping and praying Phil is laying smoke through the media on Steele

For better or worse, this is Fulmer’s search. Other than having coached football, Fulmer really has no qualifications to run a coaching search. Coming to New York and running it while the Football Foundation is going on shows that Fulmer’s knowledge of how the world works traces back to an era of flip phones as opposed to smart phones.

So who would be likely candidates? Look for coaches who would fit in Fulmer’s mold. He’s keen on younger candidates and has shown a lean toward defensive ones. Look for SEC coordinators like Georgia’s Mel Tucker and Auburn’s Kevin Steele to be targets, as Fulmer will value experience in the league.

Mike Leach’s name has cooled considerably here. The only thing more certain than Tennessee not hiring Jon Gruden is that Fulmer won’t hire Lane Kiffin, as he was not impressed by Kiffin’s year in Knoxville. (He wasn’t the only one, but there’s a strong disdain there.)

Other names that could end up being bandied around are SMU’s Chad Morris, Toledo’s Jason Candle and Memphis coach Mike Norvell. Former LSU coach Les Miles is not a candidate.
