D4H's 2017 NFL Draft Review (Best Picks, Best Drafts, and Predictions)

I judge players by the eye test. Eric Berry has not been as dominant as I thought he would be. He's not looked as athletic as he did in college. And he's not made as many interceptions as I anticipated. In many ways Earl Thomas has outshines him. Something I didn't think would happen.

You judge players on whatever dumb thought pops into your head. You wouldn't know talent if someone told you what it was.

Eric Berry was in contention for DPOY and single handedly beat the Atlanta Falcons. D4H was in elementary school when Berry was here

Bosa is 2nd fastest in the NFL in average time to sack but I've been told he gets sacks because he's lucky.

Vince Young might still be playing if he had a HC who actually wanted to coach him. Fisher hated VY.

Eh, not sure about the first part. Fisher never wanted Young that's true, but Young is still quite immature and teammates have come out saying he didn't work very hard and didn't take being an NFL QB seriously enough.

Also Young's first Pro Bowl appearance was due to Phillip Rivers declining to play and his second Pro Bowl appearance was because 3 QBs declined to play due to injuries, so he didn't exactly earn it.

Remember when I said Alvin Kamara would be a Hall of Fame RB?

Looks like he's well on his way. :)

He's absolutely doing well at this point. (which is great to see btw) Having said that we can remember you saying a lot of things...the crushing majority don't play out. So much so I hope your wild hurling of laurels in Alvin's direction isn't a harbinger of impending failure.

After years and years of average to ****ty first rd picks the saints may actually have the offensive and defensive rookie of the years

Alvin is kicking ass already and since high school has displayed a crazy level of talent. But predicting HoF status before the kid even started in the NFL is just lunacy. I like him and hope he continues to do well but thats a lot to lump on a guy at this point.

Go watch him play.

He's making the NFL look silly right now.

He's a hall of fame talent like I said.

Man Jeff Fisher must have been absolutely terrible to make Goff, Gurley and everyone else look so bad last year

Shows what a new hire can do and if I’m not mistaken the new coach is a first time HC while fisher had what 20 years exp in the league lol pathetic

Fisher was better when he was younger and more flexible in his approach. That close Super Bowl loss gave him a false great coach status and he stopped evolving...JMO.

Question for D4H -- what Vols get drafted in 2018 ?

I don't know who will be drafted, but I will tell you who SHOULD be drafted.

The following players SHOULD be drafted:

DT Kendal Vickers - 2nd round talent
TE Ethan Wolf - 3rd round talent
RB John Kelly - 1st round talent
CB Rashaan Gaulden - 2nd round talent
CB Justin Martin - 3rd round talent
CB Emmanuel Moseley - 6th round talent

Here is how my grading system works:

1st round talent = surefire pro-bowler
2nd round talent = solid starter
3rd round talent = potential starter
4th round talent = solid backup
5th round or later = potential backup

What has Vickers shown to get drafted? I can’t remember him doing anything memorable his entire career. Seemed like a undersized lunch pail guy

You gotta watch the lines of scrimmage more closely. He's been our best interior defensive lineman the last 2 years. He's a really good player. Reminds me a lot of Ray McDonald (former Florida Gator that played on the 49ers).

I think Kendal Vickers starts for 5-7 years in the NFL. He's not a star player. But he'll be solid.

So is nobody gonna give me credit for being the ONLY person ANYWHERE to be right about Alvin Kamara's potential in the NFL? Lets just go through the list of bold predictions I made about Alvin that have come true:

1. I was the only person ANYWHERE that said Alvin was the best RB in the 2017 NFL Draft. I said he was better than Fournette, Cook, and McCaffrey. 3 guys most felt were better. I have been proven right on this front.

2. I was the only person ANYWHERE that said Alvin would be the next Marshall Faulk and that he would gain 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in the same season. Alvin is currently on pace for 800+ yards rushing and 800+ yards receiving as a rookie. I would say I have been proven right on this front as well.

3. And finally I'm sure I was the only person ANYWHERE that said Alvin Kamara was a Hall of Fame talent. And I must say 3/4ths of the way through his rookie season, Alvin looks like a future Hall of Famer.

I think its time I got credit for being the ONLY person ANYWHERE to see Alvin for what he truly was. And that is a once in a lifetime athlete.

You really don't want to open that can of worms. We can talk about what you got wrong.

So far I've been money about the 2017 class.

1. I correctly predicted Alvin Kamara's all-time greatness.

2. I also predicted Deshaun Watson's hot start only to get derailed by an injury that I said he was prone for.

3. I also predicted Kareem Hunt coming back down to earth. Remember how excited everyone was about him in September? You guys wanted me to admit I was wrong and declare him a great player. I said nope. The Chiefs offense was just hot. They would come back when to earth and so would Hunt. And exactly what I said would happen has happened. Hunt is a good player he's not great. Alvin is the one from this draft class who is great.

And many of the other players I was super high on like Dobbs, Sutton, Garrett, Corey Davis, and James Conner have either not been playing or been hampered by nagging injuries. I still feel confident about my Hall of Fame picks for this draft class.

The following players will be Hall of Famers from the 2017 NFL Draft:

QB Joshua Dobbs (Steelers)
RB Alvin Kamara (Saints)
RB James Conner (Steelers)
WR Corey Davis (Titans)
DE Myles Garrett (Browns)
LB Dylan Cole (Texans)
CB Cameron Sutton (Steelers)

Let's see what I was right about:

1) Dobbs not playing
2) Garrett being hurt once again
3) Sutton getting hurt
4) Wentz being great
5) Most of your picks being wrong.
