JP, no disagreements especially about the scientific method, but, there are people here who share somewhat sensitive info that if the source was revealed, would jeopardize both the sharer and the source ... yes that leaves open the door for 'fake news' which we have plenty of, but I believe people who have been on here for a while know the trusted sharers, and maybe (probably) their sources. I haven't been on here very long but I think I have gathered some of this knowledge from the short time I've been here - I might be wrong and I often am. Please don't take this as me criticizing your post, I don't mean it that way, but my opinion is this is more art than science.

Absolutely agree, Life, more art than science. And a lot of folks on these boards--particularly here in the OJG threads--have chosen to take some things, and some sources, on faith.

That's cool. Everyone decides for themselves what to believe and why.

I'm absolutely good with people keeping their insider sources safe by not giving too much info away that could be used to identify them.

I'm also absolutely good with people asking folks who seem to have insider info how they have that info, and other questions to help ascertain whether THEY should jump on board and have faith, too.

The only thing I'm not real comfortable with is folks telling other folks they can't ask. That doesn't seem to me healthy for the community.

As for me, I'm one of those who believes there are far (FAR) more wanna-bes and trolls sharing "inside info" on these boards than there are people with true information. I err on the side of doubt; if I see a person provide information that no one else has, and that isn't obvious, and then that information comes true, I begin having faith in them. I can tell you that there are at only two [EDIT: three, just remembered another] people active on this board who have convinced me. [no, none of them is named DeerHunter, heh].

But that's just me. People will come to their own conclusions however they wish. Let's just don't beat them up for trying to understand the community landscape.

Here's my take on information and sources. The real insiders who share information have to do it in a way to protect themselves and their sources, which means their information tends to be more cryptic. The insiders know that there are other posters and lurkers who may know who they really are. These other people could then use the process of elimination to start zeroing in on the source.

Instead of asking for straight declarations and sources, just pay attention and learn which people to trust and listen to. It's not failsafe, but it is the best we can expect to do on a message board.

I was here in 2012. Fully on board. I was here through the 2017 circus show. Fully on board. We’ve been lead down crazy roads with crazy hopes and dreams with plenty of “sources” at 100% all to be shot down time and time again.

With Fulmer in control and hitting the reset button I believe there is hope once again but I am not stupid enough to fall back into the “it’s happening” mix right now. I’ll continue however to believe there is hope and be realistic at the present time that is all I can do for now.
Sorry. I'll edit the post where I quoted you.

Here us my two cents worth

The insiders or people who are in the know do not have to come to any forum and give out any info at all...they don't owe any one of us a single thing...I certainly do not feel entitled myself to make any of them have force any tidbit of info that they do not want to share.

I feel myself a rational human being that does not hang on every single word anyone says. Yes I believe these guys and gals know something, but I don't blindly believe. I take every post with a grain of salt and when info matches up I make my only conclusion...trust me I don't have a dog in this race at all.

Having said that I do believe there is a certain etiquette that you can present to ask for such info...you don't have to come across brash making people think that you feel yourself entitled to know. Just remember that these people have other lives just as we do and they are presenting info that they believe to be true.

Now I know that I'm probably going to get reemed for saying this. I know for a fact that there are some people on here who have an excellent memory or write everything an insider says down. I know these people are just waiting for an opportunity to contradict if the info ever changes. Call out if you will. That is unacceptable in my book and I know that these people bringing the info just cringe when that happens.

Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody changes their mind. Everybody puts their pants on one leg at a time. We are all the same. Everybody here has at least one shirt that is orange and I know we wear it with pride.

Just remember these insiders owe us nothing. Just come in here and have a good time. That's what these forums are for right. We shouldn't care who Exile, AV, Beav, or any other's identity is or who they are getting the info from. It's a mute point in my book. Let's just have some fun and get some info...if it's wrong then "oh well." We have all made mistakes before.

It’s worth what you paid for it.

You are right, I should not have asked someone not to ask, I stand corrected.

I believe those are the best 4 teams in the country and it’s going to be a brawl between them .

OSU has no one to blame but themselves, conference champs or not. They had two losses, and one by 31 points to Iowa. I called it last night, the only way Alabama would've been removed is if Wisky won.
