Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVII

I know this has become kind of a common courtesy of this thread (and maybe fan boards in general), but it leaves me scratching my head, every time.

I'm not saying we should be doxxing people.

But there has always been a good foundation and reason for healthy skepticism. It is, after all, the most basic concept of the scientific method. It is also a very human trait.

How do you know? Where'd you hear that? Who told you? What makes you so sure?

These are very common questions, and every single one of them gets first and foremost at this point: I have heard what you said...now I want to judge how much faith to put into it...so I'm going to ask you to put parameters on your knowledge.

...

So I don't think we should be castigating people for asking these kinds of questions. It's only normal, and it helps communities get to a more refined version of the truth.

Carry on, man, ask away. Knuck may choose not to answer your questions, and then you'll have your turn to decide whether or not to believe him.

It's how we interact.

Agree. But see Behr’s post above. People who say “no way he’s coming” should be asked their sources as well.

Several people on this board know me and who my main contacts are. Not worried about what people say or think.

I'm going to spend a couple hours outside putting up Christmas decorations. When I return, I would love to see something positive on the Gruden front. I've enjoyed the ride and Friday was a fantastic day, but I'm ready for the BOOM. I need some ammunition before having to face all the dawg fans tomorrow.

Yeah I would like to have that to before I go in and face all the non-Grudenites.

That fellow didn't. So he asked you for background. I don't blame him for asking. And don't think others on the board should be shushing him when he does.

Always your choice whether to give the information or not, of course.

JP, no disagreements especially about the scientific method, but, there are people here who share somewhat sensitive info that if the source was revealed, would jeopardize both the sharer and the source ... yes that leaves open the door for 'fake news' which we have plenty of, but I believe people who have been on here for a while know the trusted sharers, and maybe (probably) their sources. I haven't been on here very long but I think I have gathered some of this knowledge from the short time I've been here - I might be wrong and I often am. Please don't take this as me criticizing your post, I don't mean it that way, but my opinion is this is more art than science.

[Edit] Your point about asking the poster is valid. They can choose to not answer. But I'm sure many of them get a little frustrated when they are constantly asked to prove how they know something. jmo

Yeah that’s probably wrong

Fulmer will be with Peyton Tuesday in New York for the Hall of Fame Ceremonies

That could’ve changed a little since he committed to going as former coach Fulmer. He’s now AD Fulmer so his job may take precedence. Just my opinion. Hey, I’m just passing along some info... I said it was way he said has been circulating. Nothing concrete at all. And no specific name to go with it. To me, that means Miles or Gruden.

I was here in 2012. Fully on board. I was here through the 2017 circus show. Fully on board. We’ve been lead down crazy roads with crazy hopes and dreams with plenty of “sources” at 100% all to be shot down time and time again.

With Fulmer in control and hitting the reset button I believe there is hope once again but I am not stupid enough to fall back into the “it’s happening” mix right now. I’ll continue however to believe there is hope and be realistic at the present time that is all I can do for now.

These are very common questions, reasonable questions, and every single one of them gets first and foremost at this point: I have heard what you said...now I want to judge how much faith to put into it...so I'm going to ask you to put parameters on your knowledge.

I hear ya, JP but we’re all human. How would you like to repeat the same story over and over. You think you know but you’ve been told in confidence and perhaps that’s even second or third hand. You share it with others because you believe it will make them happy or because you share a commonality and then some persistent few CONSTANTLY ask for empirical evidence that you can’t share without revealing yourself or your cronies.

I say give them a break. I appreciate what nuggets we get and acknowledge that we’re dealing with humans, both in here and at the coaching decision level. Let ‘em live and lets see how it turns out.

Gruden until it’s not!

Who else might be there? Anyone we might be interested in? Just wondering.
