ESPN was saying goodbye too a bunch yesterday. ESPN is a joke, I don't think Gruden would stay away for UT just because a bunch of journalist, many that don't like UT to begin with bad mouth them. I'm sure Gruden knows who was behind all that, he is well versed in the goings on at UT. If he wants it he will take it, as far as burning bridges their bridge is a weak arse bridge anyway. The ones that are his friends there will remain the ones that weren't won't matter a hill of beans anyway. Many in the media bashed bama and Saban before he took the job. Do people remember Shula and many in the media trashing Saban back then, most have forgot. And if Gruden takes the UT job and kicks butt they will media will forget again, and many of the same ones bashing will be praising. They are basically FOS and most people know it. GRUDEN TO Rocky TOP! :rock:

It was a quote from TOS. We've been debating the bit at the end about Gruden not wanting to hurt his media friends' feelers:

Why wasn't Mullen's detailed offer leaked?

For the same reason Gruden's numbers were never leaked by the media. There was never an official offer made to either Mullen or Gruden by the university. The only numbers you've heard from the Gruden deal were leaked by insiders.

The CBS leak Sunday Morning was a controlled leak by the boosters working on Gruden.

I'm not making this CBS report up, google it.

In the meantime, doing Jim's bidding, Currie makes an end run around the other boosters and springs Schiano on them. The Schiano leak was made by the other boosters who wanted Gruden. Never could they have imagined the outcry.

Now, if you believe the guy who painted the rock and a handful of vocals down at gate 21 got this thing torpedoed, then you may want to stay up late Christmas Eve and watch the fireplace. This was stopped by very influential people both on the booster side, who were infuriated because they had been backstabbed at the eleventh hour, and by politicians.

Now, would Gruden still accept? Who knows?

But anyone saying that the actions of the last 6 days wouldn't make any candidate step back because of all of the negative national media, then you're not being fair. If Gruden accepted now, he'd be burning every bridge with the media group he works for because they've spent the last 6 days saying what a bunch of losers we are.

Has there ever been any word from the Bubba/Beaver camp about all the supposed changes made to the giving structure to the university side? It seemed like that was a pretty large negotiating chip at the time. Increased donations for research and support for becoming a “top 25” public university.
