Paul has said nothing on these boards that wasn't already on these boards from another source. Go back and look; you'll see.
If Paul is truly connected to those driving this "Booster Battle" movement, let him explain the objective and the path being taken to that objective. In detail. Describing more than simply what we're doing already.
I've never seen a single person do that. In almost three weeks since the coaching search started, I've never seen anyone explain that. Have you? If so, please link.
If not, you're just as blind as the rest of us, only you're happy to keep following along. That's fine, if that's what you choose to do.
I'm stuck on doing what's best for Tennessee and our football program. Which may not be 100% the same as whatever's going on in the background.
^This is what it's about. Yes, I'm quoting myself. I'm no one special, take it or leave it, but this is what it's about. The next battle in this war is over the new AD: Jimmy Hyams (the mouth of Sauron, to use a dork reference) has laid it out for us: Reid Sigmon is Haslam's play for the next AD, another puppet to control the AD's office for Haslam. Fulmer, or Charles Davis, or Blackburn, or anyone else has to be the new AD. Someone who truly cares about the University first and foremost. Who won't kiss Haslam's ring. It really is that simple at this point. Who gets hired to coach football is secondary.JawjaVol said:The objective is an independent AD that does not bow to the House of Haslam. Period. It doesn't really matter who the coach ends up being. We must ensure that a permanent AD whose blood runs orange is in place. That will lead to the return of excellence for the Athletic department, which is what this has always been about. Gruden, and these threads, has always been about not settling for mediocrity anymore.
this!!!!
Somebody give us some grude direction!!!!
Without direction we can't all pull together in the same direction in our protest!!!!
Hey JP... I am a little unsure of things, but I feel (hope) that the Currie firing/demoting...whichever that may be...is a step in the right direction.
My problem is I obviously believe Haslam is poisonous, but maybe they could all be. That part is a struggle for me atm
Okay, so the limit of your strategic vision is getting Fulmer, Blackburn, or Davis hired as AD.
That's it.
You can see no further than that. I mean, man, we all see that. We've all become aware that Currie is fired, and that he needs to be replaced. And we all already knew about Fulmer and Blackburn as good options, now Davis has been added to the mix.
But if that's the extent of your understanding of the way ahead, you're running just as blind as the rest of us.
And if that's all there is, fine. Good. Let's get one of those three gentlemen, and move on to finding the best coach we can.
That means there is no Booster Battle going on in the background, not really, and that we're not really curtailing the Haslam influence on the program in any permanent or long-term way.
Okay.
But if that's true, let's stop pretending that Beav and Bubba and even AV have been anything more than rabble rousers.
That's all I'm asking. For clarity about these supposed behind-the-scenes moves. Or to push them aside for good.

Thanks for all the info you bring.
I just forwarded my earlier email to Davenport and DiPietro with the following added:
"If reports are true, I would like to thank you and the Leadership team. We'll done.
For your consideration, I would like to propose Charles Davis as another very viable candidate as UTAD.*
Phillip Fulmer is a very good option (while I understand the media is being unkind). VN knows that Phillip is 120% Vol and would welcome him.
I understand that David Blackburn may have some issues he is dealing with and given your willingness to make the hard choice of standing up to the Haslams, I will trust you will get a UTAD that is ALL VOL."
