Somebody explain to me his offensive system. Why is there fear he wouldn’t recruit top level players?

Air raid offense - Wikipedia

Very pass oriented, so fears of losing quality RB's.

Has a reputation for not being defense friendly, though Leach has a quality DC now, and they are playing good defense.

A lot of shotgun, so no under center pro-style formations. This is a potential barrier for pro-aspiring QB's.

I can't see a WR having a single fear. This offense in a premier conference would give you huge numbers and opportunities for scouts to drool over.

I will defer to someone else on how it affects an OL's view. I assume they would see it as a drawback since there is less run blocking.

My thought is this... putting players in the NFL is awesome. You certainly get the high level recruit with that sell... but winning in the SEC does that also. If we average 38 PPG, pass for 375 yards and all we have is 3* players, I couldn't care less about recruiting rankings. He constantly produces more with less... much more than Dan Mullen.

FBS passing statistics this year... Oklahoma and Washington State run the Air Raid. Baker Mayfield... running the air raid. Leach and a Leach disciple, leading the nation in passing.

I would say Mizzou runs a hybrid of the Air Raid, though someone may differ with me on that opinion.

I will take this and laugh like a girl.

I would have gladly taken Mullen over many on Currie's list.
Leach has the same abilities to win with less.
Leach is Mullen but with a sword instead of oven mitts. Make it happen.

Leach has been at the top of my list for quite some time. He would do very well at Tennessee. Has the perfect personality to deal with our fan base and media. He is an offensive genius. His DC is a rising superstar.

Plus, if Breaker has taught us anything, it’s that Alabama is susceptible to the pass. Leach could exploit Bama’s weaknesses on the back end.

Also, let’s admit it guys, it’s harder to recruit at Tennessee than Florida, Georgia, Bama, Texas A&M, or LSU. Why would we not actively search for a coach that had a proven track record of doing much, much more with less? Tennessee can still recruit light years better than TTech or WSU, so Leach could have weapons the likes of which he’s never had before. Literal no brainier here guys.

Could be a very, very successful hire.

That being said, I’m sure we’ll tank this hire like the others. I’ve got my fingers crossed, though.

But, guess what, Alabama fans had high standards, they demanded excellence.

And excellence eventually found them. Without those high standards Mal Moore wouldn’t have spent days in Miami desperately seeking an opportunity to meet with Nick Saban. Go back and read about that search, Mal Moore literally sat in the car on the curb outside Saban’s house and begged for Terri Saban to let him come inside and talk. He also booked a hotel room around the corner from Saban’s house and refused to leave Miami. If that happened today somebody would have taken a picture of Mal Moore sitting outside Saban’s house and it would have gone viral.

“Look how pathetic Alabama is, they are literally sitting outside Nick Saban’s house and he won’t let them in!”

Why did Mal Moore do that? Because he was terrified of going back to Alabama without Saban. The expectations of the Alabama fan base demanded greatness, and he had to deliver for them.

The same is true of Tennessee now only we don’t have a Mal Moore.

So without sifting thru the last 30 pages, did Sumlin officially say no?
Leach has been near the top of my list since Dooley was hired! Dude can coach.

Sounds like Sumlin said no through indirect sources and Bruce Feldman says UT’s meeting with Leach went very well and for everyone to stay tuned.

Leach would be awesome!
