Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVI

One poster on there made an interesting point, while the rest of country might make fun of UT fans for protesting the coaching search, Leach is probably impressed by it

I know, I said that earlier and got flamed. He’s the one guy that could be one of us. He prolly thinks what we did Sunday was awesome and would be right there with us.

who's even on nightshift? I would consider myself a 2nd shifter

GV you still around?

what about ms. sara she still heading up the tweeters?

I’m on record saying that I don’t mind Leach and that’s great that a certain percentage of Florida fans are nervous. As I stated if Leach was hired by a new AD or even Fulmer I’d accept it.

What I don’t accept is Currie doing the hiring which is why many of us are still in this thread because we understand it’s bigger than just a coach.

Either way, I, just like many others will have to decide if we want to support this AD if this hire goes through and Currie keeps his job.

Your preaching to the choir. I was making threads Sunday night saying Fire Currie.

Why is this thread still open?

Turn off the lights guys, lock the door on the way out.

Stay focussed fire currie remove jimmy !!

@BillHaslam here's the only way you get to jimmy.they all want that SENATE seat coming open and they have vastly underestimated the power of VN. I know a lot of votes Bill will not be getting. Make your voices heard where it will resonate. Does Bill wanna stay as head of BOT with his appointed cronies or the Senate with eyes on the WH?

Really now?

7 teams from PAC12 ranked the top 50 for total offense

SEC has 5

PAC12 has 4 teams ranked in the top 50 in total defense

SEC has 6

The stats are comparable

It's not the top 50 defenses you have to worry about with Leach's offense. It's the top 10 to 12 defenses.

That isnt how it freaking works.....

looking around at the coaches getting fired from SEC schools and the reasons why.....

See Butch Jones - Les Miles - Kevin Sumlin - Bielema -

Hell Auburn was ready to fire Malzahn....
You are saying better players won't make a difference in him winning at a average level. I know what his damn record was in the big 12. I was implying he would have better athletes coming to Tennessee than he had at TT and wsu. I want better for my vols than 8 wins a year. Hire Les Miles or Lane Kiffin if Gruden Is out.

So, deerhunter is still all in on Gruden?

Yes and we still want Currie gone even if we hire Leach.

He has no choice. His term as Governor is up November 2018.

Okay, objectively speaking...

Leach isn't a horrible hire. Kind of quirky, but pretty dang proficient in getting a lot out of his players. When he was at Texas Tech, that's when Texas was the big dog in the State and the other "big" schools (ATM, Baylor, TCU and TTU) competed for the leftover scraps. I think he could bring in a very dynamic offense.

Now the bad part...he's not a "name brand" that sells itself in the cutthroat world of SEC recruiting. Plenty of folks know him, sure, but he's just not...exciting. Not to say he can't build a base, but the big point is he would have to build a recruiting base which will take time. If he managed to drop into a top 10 class like Jones did his 2nd year, it could get interesting.

I'm going to have to sleep on this to determine whether I could accept this kind of hire. Certainly worlds better than a Chad Morris (no offense Rev) or a Doeren. Equal to a Gundy? Not sure yet.

not sure if you need a decipher to decrypt any of his lyrics, but apparently everyone will be kissing his rosie red ass

One good sign is our recruits are already tweeting their approval. Taylor tweeted “Air-raid!”. Not much to go on, but a good start if in fact it is Leach.

It's not the top 50 defenses you have to worry about with Leach's offense. It's the top 10 to 12 defenses.

And do you know how many of UT's opponents this year are in the top 10-12 in defense?

2, UGA and Bama, LSU comes in at 14

The rest of UT's opponents are not even in the top 30 of total defense

So again, where is the trouble?
