I posted this somewhere else, but....it belongs in here too.
One of 3 things is happening right now:
1. We really are as bad off as we seem. Currie really did have Schiano as his #1 the entire time, and went to the Bahamas thinking he was going to hire Schiano, and tried to go rogue and hire him with Peyton, Haslem's, Davenport's support, and then VN and state legislature said nope. And then Gundy really did have an offer and turned us down...and then Brohm turns us down. And then Doeren turns us down....and now Leach has an offer, and may turn us down....and we are just the fat girl at the prom who nobody wants to dance with, and despite us throwing millions at these coaches, our AD is an idiot who is controlled by Haslem and nobody wants to be our coach.
2. Schiano was just a favor who we floated in order to get him consideration for other positions, and it went terribly wrong. Gundy seems to come up every search as a guy who seems like we are swinging for the fences, but everyone knows we won't get. And then, Brohm....and Brohm is the guy. The report was that he didn't like the counter offer...but the critical piece is that Brohm's buyout drops in a matter of a few days. They may have shook on an agreement, but continued until Tennessee can get him for a million cheaper. Perhaps they told him if he waited, he could have that extra million for staff hires. But, it's possible Brohm is the guy, but we have to keep looking so that people will think we're still searching. If he is, then once his buyout drops, we'll know.
3. What if we really do already have a coach? I know that sounds crazy...but how else, unless Schiano REALLY WAS the guy do we have an AD that thought it was cool to go chill in the Bahamas for a couple of days? I understand you're supporting the basketball team, but do that in March, not in November.
I'm not even necessarily saying it's Gruden, though I'd love it to be. But maybe like this VolCalls person is saying, maybe it's Fisher. Maybe he isn't going to Texas A&M, maybe he is coming here? Maybe the hire was Lane Kiffin or Bobby Petrino, and the only way to unite the fan base was to throw out someone he knew we would never get behind like Schiano?
I don't know....something just tells me that as bad as it looks...maybe it's supposed to look that way. Maybe we are supposed to look like a trainwreck, and then Currie saves the day and hires a huge splash that makes us the talk of the country?
I mean...maybe we literally are waiting for Florida and A&M and Arkansas and Miss State to make their hires so that we can come in and say "Now look what we have."
Don't know guys..
Honestly....I'm still Gruden til it ain't.
I wanna believe! Help my unbelief!
