Haslam has lost the fanbase. They may slide this hire in, some people may show up next season for games, and sales may not totally tank. However, make no mistake, a critical mass of Vol fans have turned against them, and they'll never turn back.

I was born in 95. Never really got to see Tennessee be great. Sucks. We can thank weak minded people who let Haslam do their jobs for them.

I wish u guys could have seen Cobb and Webb run, and the glorious ascension in the 80’s and 90’s , was great fun

Please don't take this job just because you can.

-Dolly

(I don't even know how you pronounce his last name, but it fits, and don't question Dolly)

It is so damn tough being a Vol fan that was born in 1992. I barely remember the 98 championship, pretty much all my fandom has endured is losing.

Same man. I can barely even remember ever cheering for a good Tennessee team.

Not sure why I do this to myself

This is cherry picking.

If this hire is for real, I’m gonna log out of VN this afternoon and take a good long break. Might be out of while

Of course it’s cherry picking. It doesn’t guarantee he will be successful here. It just shows that some of the best coaches have had similar resumes early in their careers.

The bottom line is that it’s not that hard to win 8+ games/year at Tennessee. Doeren could definitely do that, at least. That’s a whole heck of a lot better than anything we’ve seen in over a decade. But Doeren will struggle to do that if this fanbase is constantly stirring the pot on social media and creating this narrative about how bad of a coach he is. Please don’t do that.

If they go through with Doeren I’m definitely out. It’ll take a hire like Tee, Les or Lane to keep me around. I could’ve bought a new guitar and amp for the money I’ve spent going to games this year. There’s absolutely to return of investment of time or money with UT sports.

He will struggle to win 8+ in the SEC because he's not a good coach. Fans have nothing to do with it.
