She hired him. Boss calling shots?
Just throwing that out there.
Sounds like she put the dagger in the Brohm deal.

Any of you guys ever met her? Know of her background? I'm sure there was some power play back when Currie won out over Fulmer and Blackburn. Anybody got any inside scoop on that?

Won't change anything, but it'd be nice to know exactly who inside the administrator (meaning getting a paycheck from UT and is not a Haslam) is making OUR university the laughing stock of college football.

The only constant is Haslam....and it's been referenced from Atlanta Vol that UTs still accepting "old money"

At this point, I have no idea. Thankfully she didn't sign the MOU with Schiano, but now she screws the pooch with Brohm? For freaking DOEREN???

Last Sunday was on Currie. Davenport wouldn’t sign.

If today Currie put an offer in front of somebody he couldn’t back up that’s on him too then

Not saying Bev is clean. Just saying why is she continuing to be off page with her AD. He works for her!!!

No disrespect to you OP but I wish people would stop making threads asking these type of questions. Everything that has happened since 2008, what is the ONE AND ONLY constant at Tennessee? Jimmy Haslam. End of story. No more threads needed.

Haslams have been involved and huge donors for decades. The admin has been incompetent for a long time (since Mike Hamilton was hired), but not decades.

I don't know details and specifics, but it appears that previous figures in the admin (Doug Dickey, Joe Johnson, etc.) were better at getting all of the interested parties on the same page and headed in the same direction. I don't know exactly what the hell is going on right now other than the institution itself should renamed University of Haslam.

How involved was Haslam on the part of the Brohm deal that just fell through? I'm hearing she nixed it.
Caveat: I'm hearing it on VolNation, so who knows?

she did, and i'd bet if you got in a closed room with haslam and her, he'd probably be reading her the riot act about axing that deal. the only approval currie needs, is Haslam's approval.

remember, haslam had a hand in hiring both of these people. neither were brought in to be free thinkers and unilateral decision makers.

SHE did not screw the pooch with Brohm (well not alone anyways). Why did Currie make an offer without the approval of Davenport? How does he not know what the budget is (surely it's been discussed). The fact that these details weren't discussed before hand are unacceptable.

I agree with everything you're saying, but what is Haslam's ultimate objective? I get it that he enjoys being in control and it is in his interest to have admin people, like Davenport and Currie, that he can control. But what is Haslam's interest in wanting someone like Schiano without even talking to more qualified candidates? Why exactly would he nix a deal to bring in Brohm?

Or maybe it was better when Jim Haslam (the dad) was running things, and ten or so years ago Lil' Jimmy took his place?

I don't know the timeline of the family dynamics. :dunno:

i think haslam thinks he's doing what he thinks is best.

he has no idea that he sucks at it, and no oversight telling him he sucks at it.

Request her phone records through freedom of information act and i can guarantee you a Call was made to her to box the deal

Haslam... Problem is Haslam.

Haslam is the disease. Currie, Davenport, Hamilton, Dooley, Butch, they are all just symptoms.

We are worrying about the fever, the cough, the rash...

We need to kill the bacteria (or virus). And that's Haslam.

She just hadn't signed...yet. which we're lucky about. They were both hired around the same time. They're likely both Haslam's yes-men.
