IMO. Someone like Haslam believes he will beat the investigation one way or another. Worst case he pays a fine and one or two of his executive minions take the fall. Justice is not served equally when power and money are involved.

The issue of choosing a coach for UT is just a game for them. They enjoy winning at all costs, no matter what the unintended consequences for the other parties. They don't give 2 sheets for our fans or athletes.

This leaves a hopeless outcome. How do you counter that, is it even possible?

All i have is you would need someone to turn without them knowing.

I believe the poster saying Morris was on the phone with UT today (well now yesterday) and was surprised when Beaver asked him if he heard that from inside the AD.

I caught that as well. I don't think the beav ever addressed that. Or, I might have missed it if he did.

I think were on the same page.

I read Rev's post about the phone calls earlier, I think Beav knew what he was alluding to.

If MIT would be surprised by Currie/Haslem sneaking in a hire in the middle of the night, then he and his team are still terribly underestimating who they are up against.

I just don't see Morris taking the job. No way does a young inexperienced coach want to step into this situation with a lame duck AD.

Guys we aren’t hiring Chad Morris tonight. If anything I’d think he’d wait out the A&M job to see if Jimbo actually goes.

There is no win for Currie or Haslam at this point. He may have the few sitting in the top seats bought and paid for but I cannot fathom that the rest of the powers at UT don't scream to the mountain tops. It's becoming glaring to most folks that Haslam has the University hostage. The proud fans and supporters of UT cannot let these folks RUIN UT. All the talk about hiring a man of unquestioned INTEGRITY and then going for Schiano right off the bat not even looking at other people seriously, all the while playing the Gruden talk for all he could all the while biding his time for a sneak attack. And Haslam tried to get him to Cleveland, he failed there and tried to put him on UT. Nobody with a brain is buying Currie's and Haslam's BS! FIRE Currie NOW and tell Haslam it's OVER for him at UT. Stand up to him or the fans need to turn on the administration full bore until something changes by any tactics that make them HURT!

I vaguely remember that post earlier yesterday but brings up a question.. if they had him on the phone earlier in the day the poster saying the deal was done in the Morris thread said he was spoke to in Dallas

I would be surprised because Currie hasn’t been officially removed and I don’t know of a Coach that would want to have their own name tainted by the actions of Currie and the rest of our administration.

So you're feeling confident we get Currie TFO before we make our hire??

I like the sound of that. I can't imagine any coach wanting to come in under this current leadership either.

But, if you scrape hard enough on the bottom of the barrel you're bound to come up with something...

Who was in Dallas "interviewing" Gundy on behalf of UTAD? Surely Currie not alone?

Thanks for saying that. Question, if Currie is trying to hurry up on a hire to circumvent Gruden, why would he talk to Gundy and waste a day? Almost everyone said Gundy wouldn’t leave Okie St. Seems like Morris is ready to go. Why not go straight to Morris to push through a quick hire?

Because he could undermind the university again while he was "offering gundy".

The best thing that could happen is NO coach take Tennessee's job while Currie is there. Anyone he hires now is getting hired by a lame wobbled necked duck.

I sincerely believe the old dog has run circles around the fresh upstarts. I truly hope that isn't the case and there is a chance to derail the Currie/Haslam train.

Of course he takes it. Its a chance to coach in the SEC and besides that he has nothing to lose. If he fails, he walks away with a buyout that is WAY more than he makes currently at SMU

While I obviously am entertained by Kiffin and think he could win here, he pissed off a lot people after the first go around.

I really want Gruden but if that's a no go Kiffin has got to be it. I understand if he made people mad but he would win. We have to have a winner. This has to stop and it has to stop now. Some people are either going to have to swallow pride or fall because of it. We cannot afford to lose anymore.

Can you imagine Gruden saying he would be interested in the job then an hour later news breaks about Currie flying to pick up Morris. Talk about riots.
