Official Jon Gruden Thread XLV

Thanks for saying that. Question, if Currie is trying to hurry up on a hire to circumvent Gruden, why would he talk to Gundy and waste a day? Almost everyone said Gundy wouldn’t leave Okie St. Seems like Morris is ready to go. Why not go straight to Morris to push through a quick hire?

It was all a distraction from the Morris talks. So they could do it secretly like Schiano

I also want to say I am not trying to give anyone any false hope. Many including myself were so wrong in underestimating Currie/Haslam. No one has any idea how this thing finishes but you do have people trying everything in their power to get UT a great coach.

Padlock the doors.

Volunteer Football is over.

So we go from trumpet playing Lyle to never played college ball Chad Morris. Lol, you couldn't attempt to write a movie script with this much comedy as the UTAD gives ya.

If the Haslams have been entrenched in Tennessee since the 50's, then I see no way of getting them out. Obviously I was wrong in thinking Ergen was a big booster. He isnt. So the Haslams are the alphas. Which effectively means Tennessee football is screwed.

To pacify the fan base in believing they “tried”.

Do the folks you speak to know you represent the fan base? Seems like they would have interest in the customer. If not, and he’s trying to save his ass then he’s delaying the inevitable because many will vote with their wallet.

Understandable. A negotiation adage an old mentor shared with me ... age and treachery beats youth and enthusiasm.
I've seen it too many times.

You have to get your hands dirty at this point. I have a feeling federal employees will be involved.

I've been okay with most of what Beaver has said here

But you definitely presented yourself as the ultimate insider, done deal, these people don't miss twice, white whale, all this BS and now you sound desperate on Twitter because the inevitable loss to the Haslams is going to happen (or seems imminent).

Perhaps the words done and deal mean different things to different people, but it obviously wasn't a done deal. So you can say you didn't mean to mislead people, but you kinda did.

The only thing that saves us is Gruden flat out releasing a statement saying he has talked to boosters at Tennessee, he wants to sign a contract, he is ready to come, but Currie has never contacted him and seems pretty inept at his job.

Since the odds of that happening are slim to none and slim just left town, it seems over. I see no other option than Gruden literally putting it out there so that Currie has no other option in order to appease the fanbase.

(Edit: and that might be too late since we might get Morris flown up here in the middle of the night...)

I'm off to bed tonight. More nightmares tomorrow (today?) it seems.

Haslam and Currie acted beyond irrationally with Schiano. Hence why people even as powerful as Atlanta Vol were caught off guard. Haslam knows the massive financial impact but either doesn’t care or doesn’t comprehend (hard to tell which with him).

I'm surprised you would be surprised by anything at this point. Not a jab just an observation..

I believe the poster saying Morris was on the phone with UT today (well now yesterday) and was surprised when Beaver asked him if he heard that from inside the AD.

tweeted Chancellor Davenport, Pres DiPietro and BOT members

Coach Morris equals empty seats in Neyland #FireJohnCurrie #Blackburn4AD

I would be surprised because Currie hasn’t been officially removed and I don’t know of a Coach that would want to have their own name tainted by the actions of Currie and the rest of our administration.

Are they willing to be indicted in their effort to maintain control?

I hope you have the codes to the nuclear weapons.

probably a bit of both. there's absolutely no good reason or justification for making that hire.

the guy has to go.

How do you exploit a weakness right now. The FBI is watching and investigating, prominent family, political aspirations for the family.

It has to get messy.

IMO. Someone like Haslam believes he will beat the investigation one way or another. Worst case he pays a fine and one or two of his executive minions take the fall. Justice is not served equally when power and money are involved.

The issue of choosing a coach for UT is just a game for them. They enjoy winning at all costs, no matter what the unintended consequences for the other parties. They don't give 2 sheets for our fans or athletes.
