Thank you. Someone who gets it. If you're gonna take a risk, take it with one of our own and someone who has already given their all for UT.
I'm not saying I'm against a Tee hire. I just think he's not ready quite yet. I would hate to see him get fired 4 years from now. He won us a NC and is beloved. I don't ever want to feel towards Tee the way I do Butch and Dooley.
Peyton is just as corrupt as the rest of them. He's another puppet to the Haslams. He wants the Brown's GM job for what ever reason and will jump at the opportunity to get a rise from Haslam.
If Haslam don't like it neither does Peyton.
Sad times we live in. Stay strong Vols.
No it won't but I would really hate to see a NC winning QB get fired simply because he wasn't ready for Prime Time.
I can't argue your points. I very well could be wrong. If he's hired I hope like hell I am.To be honest Im not sure at this point were going to bring in a guy whos going to have much success early on. But lets say Tee were to be an above average coach for his first few years, I think this fan base would still be willing to wait for him to get it as oppose to an outsider who wed probably butcher in two years. At this point Im just looking at it from a logical standpoint
personally, if it were remotely possible....
what i would do is offer the job to Les Miles for 3 years. pay him $3-4M/year, then i'd take $1.5-$2.5M and bring Tee in as OC/HCIW.
they'd both fill out the staff, with it being required Tee hire the DC.
at the end of the two years, evaluate where we are, and if Tee is ready, let him take it, and get the bump in salary etc....if not, let it go another year.
total pipe dream and i doubt you could get them both to agree to it. but we've done a lot stranger things recently....so wth?
Ok really think about that... Peyton isnt a dumb guy, who in their right minds would ever want to be the CLEVELAND BROWNS GM. Thats career suicide right there.
For me at least, the potential for it ruining a legacy is very high. The same people cheering for him to get it will be calling him every name in the book in a few years if he doesn't win.
I wouldn't mind him being the HC one day, but this is not the situation to let him take over.

The ones who reported on this to begin with. Its just semantix, I dont think Peyton was insinuating thats tee wasnt fit. The way I read it was that they were ready for pursue Tee because hes lower on the list. Of course I could be wrong but thats the way I read it.

His boss (the Haslams) don't care about winning. Being the Brown's GM is all about the illusion of trying to win. The fan base of the Browns is vastly apathetic and it would be a easy GM job to sit back and make money in.
I have to strongly disagree. Peyton isnt just going to take a GM job to sit around for a paycheck. He has plenty of businesses that generate passive income for him and hes a highly marketable guy.
If Peyton was ever to be GM he would want to be a good situation to succeed. He isnt the sit around and Coast kind of guy. If he was, he probably wouldve signed with the Titans when he was a free agent (no offense to Titans fans).
