Thank you. Someone who gets it. If you're gonna take a risk, take it with one of our own and someone who has already given their all for UT.

personally, if it were remotely possible....

what i would do is offer the job to Les Miles for 3 years. pay him $3-4M/year, then i'd take $1.5-$2.5M and bring Tee in as OC/HCIW.

they'd both fill out the staff, with it being required Tee hire the DC.

at the end of the two years, evaluate where we are, and if Tee is ready, let him take it, and get the bump in salary etc....if not, let it go another year.

total pipe dream and i doubt you could get them both to agree to it. but we've done a lot stranger things recently....so wth?

Tee is the floor right now and Tennessee should do their due diligence to lift that floor. I don't believe the guys they are rumored to be after are much better, if at all, options than Tee, but there are some more proven. We need to take our time and not simply throw money at Tee so quickly.

Also, they should let this weekend play out if they are looking at coordinators and coaches who are prepping for championships. In the meantime, they need to have preliminary discussions and do as much due diligence as possible.

I don't want to see a hire before Sunday unless it is a big splash name who isn't busy this weekend.

Peyton is just as corrupt as the rest of them. He's another puppet to the Haslams. He wants the Brown's GM job for what ever reason and will jump at the opportunity to get a rise from Haslam.

If Haslam don't like it neither does Peyton.

Sad times we live in. Stay strong Vols.

We just got turned down by a homerun hire offering big money. No reason to settle on Tee just yet. Plenty of good coaches out there. Nothing against Tee but why fire Butch and hire Tee? Makes no sense. Offering Tee is just desperate IMO

sunday. that's why. the whole dynamic has changed.

I'm not saying I'm against a Tee hire. I just think he's not ready quite yet. I would hate to see him get fired 4 years from now. He won us a NC and is beloved. I don't ever want to feel towards Tee the way I do Butch and Dooley.

To be honest I’m not sure at this point we’re going to bring in a guy who’s going to have much success early on. But let’s say Tee were to be an above average coach for his first few years, I think this fan base would still be willing to wait for him to “get it” as oppose to an outsider who we’d probably butcher in two years. At this point I’m just looking at it from a logical standpoint

Tee has a much higher ceiling than Butch ever had.

Ok really think about that... Peyton isn’t a dumb guy, who in their right minds would ever want to be the CLEVELAND BROWNS GM. That’s career suicide right there.

No it won't but I would really hate to see a NC winning QB get fired simply because he wasn't ready for Prime Time.

I agree. But I think he will get more leniency from the fan-base than some random coach. I think in 3-4 years, he could have this figured out. He caught on quickly as an OC, I believe he could do that here, especially with the right supporting cast.

I can't argue your points. I very well could be wrong. If he's hired I hope like hell I am.

Supposedly his wife is some Hollywood star wannabe, and doesn't want to move to Knoxville. I don't think it's as much Peyton as it is Tee's wife.

I LIKE THIS! As far as the DC goes, Steel looks pretty good now and he is another TN man..........

His boss (the Haslams) don't care about winning. Being the Brown's GM is all about the illusion of trying to win. The fan base of the Browns is vastly apathetic and it would be a easy GM job to sit back and make money in.

For me at least, the potential for it ruining a legacy is very high. The same people cheering for him to get it will be calling him every name in the book in a few years if he doesn't win.

I wouldn't mind him being the HC one day, but this is not the situation to let him take over.

agree. it's a risk. you don't hire Tee and then 3 years later fire him because he's not good enough.

cause, of course he's not. he wasn't when you hired him, and you know when you do that, you're more or less taking on a project.

a tee martin hire is a test of patience for all involved....and it has to be that way. otherwise, don't even dip your toes in that pool. tee would not show up and win the division in a couple years like Smart has.

you hire tee, you have to almost be willing to give it at least 5-6 years before you even consider firing him. and you better be ready to pony up the resources to get him a freaking GREAT staff.

You are throwing some very strong hatred toward Peyton Manning.

This is how Pathetic some Tennessee fans have become.

And you’re not out of bounds by any means. Tee is absolutely a risk. But at this stage, I can’t imagine that we’ll get a guy who isn’t a risk, and I can definitely be wrong about this.

And to add another positive of Tee Martin:

If he does learn quickly and becomes an excellent HC, you have a HC for 10+ years because of how young he is, you just have to be willing to give him the money to retain him.

I have to strongly disagree. Peyton isn’t just going to take a GM job to sit around for a paycheck. He has plenty of businesses that generate passive income for him and he’s a highly marketable guy.

If Peyton was ever to be GM he would want to be a good situation to succeed. He isn’t the sit around and Coast kind of guy. If he was, he probably would’ve signed with the Titans when he was a free agent (no offense to Titans fans).

I hope you are right. Only other explanation would be that the Brown's GM job would be the quickest in for him, due to the Haslam connection. If he could turn around the Browns, he would be a legendary GM, just as he single-handedly made the Colts a SB contender.

Well, that's easily the dumbest thing I've read in the last 24 hours.

And considering some of what's been written, that's truly a staggering accomplishment.
