This is about as bad as this coaching search could’ve turned out. You almost have to do this on purpose for it to turn out this bad.

Steele is the perfect hire for this abomination of a program right now. He's old and has an atrocious head coaching record, but checks off the boxes that all the old-timers and people who are woefully out of touch think are important.

No kid--absolutely none--will be excited about playing for him. Recruiting will die. We'll go 3-9, 2-10, 2-10 and he'll be fired, and the roster will be Vandy-level or worse.

I would take Will Healy over him in a nanosecond.

I am fighting mad right now.

I would have been OK with hiring Chad Morris at the beginning of this. I've campaigned for him quite a bit.

But with the way this whole thing has turned out, all I want to do is hire Tee Martin and take our program back from these idiots. I want to root for a Tennessee guy. I want to be proud of my allegiance and they're taking it away from us.

Steele is not a great DC. He was DC at Bama one year and replaced by Saban, replaced by Dabo at Clemson, one year at LSU where they were mediocre, then he walked into a loaded Auburn team where there were just ok last year. This is his really only good year as a DC.

UT has been systematically destroying this program for a decade. Three different administrations have had a hand in its annihilation. Since 2008, we have had bad hires at every level-- president, chancellor, AD, HC. Unparalleled fan support has kept it going. Hard to believe that not long ago, UT was one of the top athletic departments in the country, under the strong leadership of Johnson, Dickey, Fulmer and Summitt. It's been a hard fall to this.

Morris is below Tee. I don't like him but would support him.

I would take Jeremy Pruitt over Steele in a nanosecond, and I absolutely loathe the idea of Jeremy Pruitt coaching the Vols.

I would be overjoyed if we got Scott Satterfield instead of Kevin Steele. That's how bad I don't want Kevin Steele.
