I was thinking about this yesterday. If the same thing had happened at Cal or Oregon or Stanford, places where media assumes the fans to be more "enlightened," the coverage and reactions to this would have been very different. It would have been all about social responsibility and praising them to high heaven for holding their team to higher standard in a sports world that so often turns a blind eye to the misconduct of its stars. But we're just ignorant hillbillies, so of course it's all about how ridiculous we are.
