I am just curious why everybody thinks that Kiffin would be a proven winner in the SEC now? And why Gundy wouldn't be a winner in the SEC? And for the record I would take Gundy over Kiffin everyday, because he is 40 and a man, damn it! And being a product of the 80's I have to say long live the Mullet! But seriously, I really think Gundy could do very well here at UT with all our resources.

For the record, I am not against Gundy at all. If we can get him then I am good with that. But Kiffin has won in the SEC. And that 2009 team wasnt that good outside of Berry and Hardesty. Yet it took a game of historic proportions by the #1 team in the country to beat us. He also had us very competitive against UF who was #1 at the time as well.

Additionally, he won a natty, coached in the playoffs twice, and almost reached another as the OC for the greatest football coach of all time...all in the SEC.

Comes down to Gundy's true motivations. Is it to challenge the big boys of the SEC or just the payday. Hell, is it even to spite T Boone in Stillwater.

Atleast we know Kiffin wants to needle and beat Saban. He has that ego about him.

Corky from the hit television show Life Goes On could have read plays from the waffle house menu in Mandarin to the horses on that team and still won the NC.

How many coaches do we go get who don't work out in the SEC? Not that Gundy couldn't do it, but there is actually evidence that Kiff can.

Are you saying that there is or isn't evidence that Kiffin won't work out in the SEC?

Cause judging from what I have seen, he has been nothing but successful in his 4 years total in the SEC. I mean Saban trusted him to overhaul his offense and it won him a title and missed out on another one by letting Lane off to go to FAU even though Lane wanted to coach the Natty.

Kiffin has the higher upside. Gundy would be a good/safe hire and would win 9-10 games a year but not sure he would ever win the SEC. Kiffin could bring energy back into recruiting and win the big games.

What is this Kiffin upside?

That he went 7-6 at UT
That he sucked so bad at USC he not only got fired but pulled off the da.. bus and wasn't given a ride back to the campus?
That he is kicking ass in Conference USA? Ain't it a lot like that MAC?

He embarrassed this University and it's fans once before, if we have a choice between Kiffin and virtually any decent head coach then Kiffin should not be hired.

Once again, context is not your friend.

He went 7-6 with two walkons on the offensive line and a head case at QB. Development was very evident in 2009.

In regards to USC, if you would have told the USC Fanbase, Administration, and Athletic Department that they would go 28-15 in 3.5 seasons given how bad the sanctions were (which USC's folks did NOT even expect them to be as harsh), they would have gladly taken that record. Kiffin did very well considering the sanctions were tons times worse than expected.

While he did get fired, it was solely on Pat Haden to fire him. Pat Haden was worse AD than Kiffin a coach.

Was you wife/daughter one of Kiffin's alleged co-eds? So much hate...

So the argument is he's a good OC at bama therefore he can beat bama cause he really doesn't like Saban?

It's easy to win when you have the three deep 4 & 5 star horses (e.g. Derrick Henry) up and down the roster.

Exactly, specifically the sanctions which are not considered by many looking at his record at USC and also Haden being a poor AD.

You confuse hate with reason and logic. I don't hate Kiffin, sure I think he's a douche for leaving us high and dry in the middle of the night, poaching our recruits, trolling us on twitter and thumbing his nose at Vol traditions.

Aside from that his history as a P5 head coach (of which there's plenty), objectively - is average. You can call it hate but when the desperation and heartache wears off from being spurned by Gruden - one day you'll see the folly in wanting this clown back on the Hill.

Those sanctions limited the depth sure, but his classes were still loaded with 5 star talent. He took that talent to a pre season number one and finished unranked.

Suggesting he was trotting out incompetent scrubs is a revisionist history.
