Largest privately held company in the US, more than twice the net worth of Ergen. And that's not counting Big Jim or Billy's stash.

P.S. also $50 million donation, largest ever, and there was lots more before that.

Ergen is worth a lot more than Haslam fwiw but he doesn’t give nearly as much to the university is my understanding.

Imo...underestimated Haslam more than over estimated Ergen.

It's like N Korea. He is willing to burn it all down before giving up control.

I would agree. So wouldn’t that make those “who never miss” incompetent? Just trying to piece this all together. Does the AA still get their money? Would love for Bubba to speak to this...

Damn...now I am curious, can you repost it?

Pretty simple just a little different, same as normal but sub half mayonnaise with cream cheese, add smoked salmon, cucumber and red onion. Garnish with fresh dill and capers.

Haslams are the largest donors and carry the most influence (obviously). Ergen nearly doubles their net worth, but doesn’t throw his weight around much.

The Haslams have lived in Knoxville their entire lives. They've greased far more palms. Everybody in Knoxville over 40 with money has been on a charity board with one of the Haslams.

The Haslam's stacked the Board of Trustee's with their buddies long ago. Jimmy's brother is also the Govenenor and the hands down favorite to replace Dipetrio as President of UT.

Ergen can't displace them without displace all that too. This town is a good ole boy network, and Jimmy's Daddy Big Jim rebuilt it how he wanted it after the collapse of the Butcher's and his associates in the early 1980's.

Neither of you are wrong.

The story i got was the fun was to much for Dan and she drew a line in the sand and they left for State.

I’m more surprised than anyone he’s back there

I am not here to bash anyone that says they have "inside" information, but we are really going down the rabbit hole now. Outside of a body being buried somewhere or pictures of him in a Thai brothel, not a lot is going to happen to Haslam when it comes to UT.

In the grand scheme of things this was just a bad decision on hiring a bad football coach. And for all the national media what was done is cyber terrorism, give it a rest. Take a trip overseas, either way, and they will see real terrorism up close and personal.

Hiring Gundy would be a home run hire. Who really knows if Gruden was ever coming, maybe one day he will make a statement. I would love to have him as our head football coach, but if it doesn't happen, so be it.

And has anybody ever thought that the beav and Blackburn are connected? Seems like a lot of anger and revenge going on in the beavs tweets and info. And then he came out and basically said his agenda wasn't about Gruden. Something to think about.

And here is my inside information, I just got home and have a growler of Irish Redeye Jedi and in about an hour I am going to have to pee.

Also lay off knucklehead, he is a good dude.

Most people dont like chaos. The longer a chaotic situation goes on, the quicker they are to accept something to make it stop. They are creatures of habit who like homeostasis.

Look on the Gundy board, "who cares what it cost, we have a big name, get it done now". They would have never settled for Gundy at $8M a few days ago. The fan base would've revolted. Put them in a chaotic state for a few days though, and they are willing to accept something they previously would not.

People have to fight against their nature of getting back to homeostasis and let this play out a little longer. Short term pain for long term gain.

^^^^^^^this

Most don't have the backbone for a long, sustained fight. Rhey want order in their life. They want to know everything is in its place where it should be. Gundy has a good enough record to pacify 65 - 70% of the fanbase which is what Currie and Haslam are trying to do.

The supposed 8.4m offered to Gundy is a drop in the bucket compared to what is at stake over the long term.

Haslam will do whatever it takes to remain in control.
