Give Gundy 8.4 million to coach, or give Tee 4 million and pay the staff 4million.

I wouldn't hire Tee for $100k much less $4M. I personally want a proven, winning head coach and I don't care how much they pay for him.

Not sure if 8.4m is exact. Another article quoted "around 6m".

I would be good with Tee and a great staff but would be much happier with Gundy and a great staff.

And if money for a quality staff is the issue, let Haslam pay it. He likely contributed to where we are right now.

While both are bad ideas, I'd go with Gundy for $8 million.

Full disclosure, I'd be fine with UT hiring Gundy, it's the rumored pay that I think is completely insane. And I love Tee, we all do, but if he wasn't a former Vol no one would be ok with the idea of hiring someone with no HC experience.

1. Who gives a **** about the money? This is all toilet paper money to the boosters who are footing the bill. If a buddy takes you out to a steakhouse on his tab, you don't ***** about which one he is treating you to because of the perceived cost differential (if you do, you are tacky).

2. If they get Gundy, that's a better hire than anyone would have reasonably expected for Tennessee.

3. I love the Tee hire too, but Gundy is a top-shelf coach NOW... Tee has a lot of intangibles I like though that make him really attractive as well.

Gundy is probably worth around 6 in a normal market so I'd expect to pay a little more given our circumstances. Hopefully it's not actually 8.4. Somewhere in between would be reasonable.

But I would absolutely not pay Tee 4M. Maybe half that

Sunday evening I would have been glad to get Kiffin back thinking that we were truly in a world of hurt. But now that it appears we may have legitimate interest from Grundy and Brohm - two coaches I don't think he holds a candle to, he's back down as a fall back candidate with Tee

Gundy is a home run, would have been more than pleased before the weekend's events. I have no problem paying the man and his assistants, he is not afraid to dive into the deep end known as the SEC. I believe he would be up to the task.
