Me either.
Throwing the kind of money that's being talked about at Gundy just screams of panicked desperation not plan B.

I bet they’d talked to him before, he was a plan B and the offer was probably more realistic. Now he knows we’re bent over and uped his price and we took it because otherwise, it’s Dave Doeren. It’s just good business on his part.

I am just going to say what I feel about Tee. He has proven nothing yet as an OC.

He is a great recruiter, but don't forget he trolled us a few years ago and turned down our job offer. Tee is out for Tee (as he should be) but I do not believe he is ready to be ahead coach yet and with this hire, we cannot gamble.

If we get an Offensive minded Head Coach he would be fine as an OC as long as we knew who was really calling the plays.

Maybe someday Tee will be a great coach, but he has not proven it yet.

We could do a lot worse than Tee and that almost happened. No one get HV experience with out the opportunity. I think he would be fine if he surrounded himself with the right people.

That is an extremely short-sighted opinion.
Not at all. This would be a prime opportunity to solve a short term problem while maintaining focus on long term solutions. Getting Gundy means that our 2 largest revenue sports (football and MBB) are set for the next 5 years. With the short term stuff taken care of, long term can become the focus. Letting Gundy go at the expense of attempting to get rid of Currie/Haslam would be the largest strategic mistake any CFB program has made.

I don't know anything. I've maintained throughout the process that I'm just an observer. I like solving puzzles, and I like the Vols so this was perfect for me.

My guess is what has been surmised so far. There were two coalitions, one went behind the others back and tried to be sneaky. Their hand got caught in the cookie jar, big time. The other is now bringing the wrath upon their heads.

While he may not be the South's favorite military commander, I think this sums up the position of the boosters, etc.

"War is the remedy that our enemies have chosen, and I say let us give them all they want."

William Tecumseh Sherman

That wrath is rightfully being brought down. I hope they rain hell upon them for their deceit.

Fulmer was the king of losing winnable games and losing losable games. And he won a national title. (Can we ban the term “natty” It sounds so stupid to me)

But I would bet on Fulmer in close games at the end and overtime games. You can't dispute his record in the 1990's. A perfect season is hard to achieve. Even Spurrier never had an undefeated season.

Like I said yesterday, at this point I'm not sure how close we ever really were with Gruden. That being said, for argument's sake, let's say we did have his signature on an MOU. With everything that's gone down since Sunday, would you still be interested in coming here today? I strongly doubt that he would.

Now, there might be the ultimate motive for Haslam and Currie pulling their little stunt. Perhaps it was never about hiring Schiano. Maybe it was all about scaring away the white whale.

I don't see how that's possible. What our fan base did is unprecedented. If the Sandusky reference had not been mentioned by someone, It would have been too late. Without that information, its just another dumb hire. The MOU was there to be signed. They just didn't want Gruden here.

Hey everyone. I must report a Pattiycake sighting in another thread. Amazing as she has been AWOL in this thread this go around.

UCLA gets Kelly for $4.66.... we get Gundy for $8.4?

LOL is all I have to say. Not a I don't believe you LOL. Just a sad, grab the bottle, sit down in the recliner, and drink in the dark kind of LOL to myself.
