Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

Dude. As much as it pains me to say this, Gruden didn’t sign, man. If he had talked to his family, bought a house, was preparing ESPN for his departure, and signed, we would know, for sure. Someone would have come out and said, “I was there when Gruden signed, I saw it with my own eyes”.

People were told lies by people they trusted. It happens. Happened in 2012, it happened again. We had our own University putting out fake Tampa flights and liking Gruden tweets just to troll our fans. If they’d do that us, Imagine what lies the boosters have been told.

It’s ok, but we need to move on.

Too many things lined up with too many people for it to go like you believe. Try another thread and I’ll believe what I want.

Yes! Yes! Yes! It is true and was played in Federal Court. Bye bye Jimmy, say hello to your new cell mate, Bubba. (No offense to our Bubba).
Haha, you forget we live in 'Murica where you're innocent until proven poor.

That guy isn't going to see ANY jail time, lol

Sounds like Haslam has a problem. Could it be that the other boosters are behind the Gundy deal with Curry sitting in the corner awaiting his dismissal. Get a coach in place, before having to change AD and hopefully Bev. Just a thought
Not to mention having Gundy in place makes it that much easier when you do need to find another AD.

My 2 cents...

If this is what we fall uphill to get, it is a great hire. Of course I would rather have Gruden, but hiring Gundy is a coup.

That being said, we cannot allow this hire to save the job of a man who did nothing to search for a new coach and had to be forced by Volnation to go a different route. He soiled the reputation of the University of Tennessee and he no longer deserves to be associated with the school.

wow..."it's ok,but we need to move" sounds like something ive heard a cheating husband tell his wife during sessions...complacency is not ok...neither is saying "everyone lied to us..our university trolled us, but it's ok..move on"

Like I said yesterday, at this point I'm not sure how close we ever really were with Gruden. That being said, for argument's sake, let's say we did have his signature on an MOU. With everything that's gone down since Sunday, would you still be interested in coming here today? I strongly doubt that he would.

Now, there might be the ultimate motive for Haslam and Currie pulling their little stunt. Perhaps it was never about hiring Schiano. Maybe it was all about scaring away the white whale.

Haslam is holding the damn leash.

Bingo. And now Basilio, who rails on the HoH, is selling their candidate to his audience and calling it a great hire. Nothing has changed. Order is being restored. Just cost the Haslams a few more benjamins to get things back under control.

Maybe Gundy was the "plan beyond the first plan" after all. Him not being a client of slimy Sexton's would make one think this.

If I wanted to pacify an angry fan base then I would very publicly “attempt” to hire Gundy knowing full well he wouldn’t accept due to our administrative incompetence. Currie must go in order to #SaveUT

Let me get back to you for in depth thoughts.

Initial impressions will be "like it, don't love it, but he could do good here if he gets a better DC."

He's Big 12 ball. All offense, no defense.

Malzahn learned. Lets hope Gundy can, too.

Hell Yeah! That’s what it’s about

This is crazy. Nothing against Gundy but he’s being used. Currie will be hailed as a freakin hero and Haslam will go back to ripping poor travelers off. Surrender cobra.

True....unless this is confirmed to be more of a Fulmer / boosters hire with Currie sitting on the sidelines. If that's the case, then we get to see him castrated and then fired.

If other boosters were behind the deal, they would have fired Currie yesterday and cleaned house. This is a HoH deal, overpaid to CYA and regain control.

This makes my heart so happy. It's happening boys and girls. We may not even need the boosters help. Ha
