Article in the Tennessean today. Bill commented yesterday on it.
Defended his brother saying he wasn't part of the head coaching hire.
Right, he just put the puppet in place that would. I just now realized after looking back that Blackburn never even got an interview for the AD position. Apparently the AD search was all a ruse as well. This has Haslam's fingerprints all over it.
New to most social media. How do we go about keeping up the pressure? The fans are buying time, rev. Buying time for folks like Atlanta to do what they do. We all have roles here. Ours is to publicly keep pressure up to oust the influence of Haslam and his hand-picked tools. The big donors are the ones who will have to actually make that happen.
I understand. And Im doing my part as are you and thousands of others. But we need a coach. I know whats going on is bigger than who gets hired and its been needed for a while, but we still need a coach. We cant say forget this class just to complete the purge because whoever the coach is, needs players. We need a coach. I dont want to rush the hire because weve seen what that looks like but nonetheless, we still need a coach. My point is were stuck and they know it. Removing them is a lot harder and longer process than we have time for. We can keep emailing and keep calling and keep painting the rock but we are on a very, very limited time frame and they already proved how they operate. So while I agree this needs to happen, I dont know if the good guys are willing to sacrifice the next 1-2 seasons by delaying a hire. Like Knuck said last night, maybe they let him hire someone then he resigns but what sense does that make? IMO, this needed to be swift with a sharp knife but it didnt happen. And here we are with a lame duck AD and no one worth a crap willing to take us on.
Im telling you.....if Bill Haslam becomes the next president of the University, we will never remove that family or their thirst for power.
Schiano was never plan B as I alluded to earlier...even sadder part is I found out about it from one of Urbans very close associates literally as it was going down Sunday afternoon with a text did you know you are closing in on Schiano? Your crew is up here now are you aware?
Ill elaborate more once I have time to put the rest of the puzzle together and the timing around it but rest assured this guy was never even on most of our radar until the very last second....which is clearly what Currie wanted.
I am headed to knoxville now...then off to an another location to discuss what measures will help force change. We must demand accountability....pure and simple.
Exactly. We cant just poof these people away with our wishes. They are so entangled here, its ridiculous.
I hate to say this but we got to let this s*it burn. We need no one to accept this job. We need no one at the stadium next year. We need boosters to not give one red cent. We need to act like we dont care anymore. Empty Neyland x 1000. Take the stickers off your cars, mail your TN stuff to the University cc the President of UT, blow up your legislators, blow Bill with letters and twitters that say we will never vote for you again. Tell Peyton we are so disappointed in him.
We need to get the message across this has very little to do with Schiano, but everything to do with purging this University of Haslam. It may take a long time, but we got to do it. Not just for a few days or weeks, but YEARS, if that what it takes.
We have got to be so super serious about this.
Why did Cutcliffe interest have to be public?
Not interested doesn't help anything. Makes us look like
a bigger s..t fire .
It's not a matter of them waiting us, the fans out. It's a matter of us the fans keeping enough public pressure on to 1. Prevent Currie from sliding another Haslam Hire in, and 2. Buying time for boosters like AV to do what they need to do behind the scenes.
The reality is Currie doesnt run a super tight ship with no leaks, thats impossible. You think an agent or a representative of the coach or agent wouldnt leak something about being contacted. One all that would do is help the coach and agent by drawing attention to them and possibly a bidding war for the coach. Secondly the AD has zero power to stop anyone from leaking anything outside his own right group.
This tells us Currie didnt reach out and talk to anyone associated with any other coach besides schiano. The only reason that was kept so quiet was because both sides knew the UT fan base wanted better but our AD also thought we would just support whoever he shoved in front of the podium.
Sadly at the detriment to the university and near future of this team he learned we werent gonna accept just whoever. We wanted a winner and now that he is forced to look at other coaches we will see how uncontrollable leaks are in an actual coaching search.
Currie is a done at UT, whether he knows it or not. Haslam you reign will never succeed at this point. People have had it, UT can either break away from that or go down the ship with them. Because the bulk of the fan base refuses this leadership anymore!
