The Rock: Bring Lane Home

I'm not ready to go balls-to-the-wall thug life with the football program just yet. We should try more discipline, not less. Troy Calhoun over Kiffin by a light year or two.

We had 10 years to rebuild that program and failed...That's not on him that's on the horrible AD's choices for coaches we ended up with..You can't blame him for all of that and plus Dooley took what was left of his last class to the music city bowl the following year....Both Dooley and Butch had time to build us up and look what they left us?...Lane can fix it...And I think he believes he owes it to us...Give him a chance.

Dude wakeup. Different ADs same result. It's the Haslams ramrodding us. There should be 100,000 fans demanding Currie be fired and not allowed to make this hire.

Sorry lost the photo for a second.

Freak I like it, but I do have 1 concern. Any leak right now has to be assumed as part of the Currie/Haslam plan. Why does Haslam want him? Does he have so much dirt on Kiffin that he can be used to help him keep control of the AD, or am I over thinking this?

Bringing Kiffin back to UT would bring an energy the UTAD desperately needs right now including the football team. It would reverberate throughout the SEC and college football positively, and scare the hell out of Bama and UGA programs as they know their days would be numbered. Just make sure the contract locks him up tight from ANY other program including Bama and the NFL. Currie needs this or something like it to remain employed on The Hill IMO.

Lets face facts. As much as li love Tennessee I can understand why he did what he did. Consider this.....a young head football from California got a chance to coach at his lifelong dream USC . He jumped at his chance to fulfill his dream. Be honest, how many of us would have done the same thing ??? I would bet the majority. Lets bring back some pride in Tennessee Football again........I am 70 years old. We are the pit of college football now. Like Trump says, What the hell have we got to lose ????

We are SOOOOO frail. We are battered, bruised and delusional.

Show some f-ing pride, for God's sake.

Those things that I've listed aren't hurt feelings. Those were serious transgressions by the Lane régime.

Get over it. We don't care about your feelings. Try to understand that Kiffin is what we need. Don't waste this opportunity.

I’m speaking in general.

If you don’t want Kiffin because of an NCAA issue from eight years ago, so be it. But Pearl got the show cause not Kiffin.

Most screaming battered Vol syndrome, as you did, don’t want him because he left once.

I disagree that he’s solely to blame. I think hiring Dooley has a lot more to do with that.

Obviously you’d have him closely supervised for compliance. He didn’t have any issues at Bama or USC did he? (I don’t recall).

Well he had a losing record at USC which is very hard to do in the Pac12.

And it's Bama, if he did anything wrong we would never hear about it.

If hired, it would have to be a very short leash with a 20,000,000 dollar payout that doesn't drop over time if he walks.

I personally don’t think this administration wants Kiffin.

When was TENNESSEE his "home"? Right before he bolted for his Dream Job?

Haha, want him and hire him, but "Bring Lane Home" is laughable.

The fact that people were so butthurt about him leaving (me included) shows that he was having success and people were excited about the program. Fans and players.

He was 28-15 at USC, on probation.

Kiffin left for his dream job. It was Mike Hamilton's fault for not having a bigger buyout for him at the time. I don't understand the hate for someone who took their dream job, it happens all the time in normal day to day life. The thing I didn't like about Kiffin was the Hostessgate stuff.

Looks like Mississippi State fans are tracking planes from Boca to Starkville this morning.

We need a non power 5 head coach? Or we need a head coach who was fired from his previous head coaching job?

Now that Tennessee is at the "plan so crazy it just might work" point in the program's history, I'm starting to have a great feeling about this whole coaching search.

Some other examples:

Star Trek:

McCoy: So you're saying you want to go backwards in time, find some of these whales, bring them forward in time, drop 'em off and hope to hell that they tell this probe what to go do with itself?!
Kirk: That's the general idea.
McCoy: But that's crazy!
Kirk: You've got a better idea? Now's the time.

Star Wars:

Leia You're not actually going INTO an asteroid field?!
Han: They'd be crazy to follow us, wouldn't they?

The Matrix:

Trinity: Nobody has ever tried anything like this before.
Neo: That's why it's going to work.
