Vol emotional stability matters.
I would hope that what the national media- as in, folks with microphones who have proven to be nothing but jackasses- says is irrelevant.
The PR disaster has gotten worse because our incompetent AD and Chancellor have done nothing but release pathetic twitter statements about this debacle. Letting them go is like throwing a stick into an inferno; it may spark up a bit, but in the end it doesn't matter.
I'd rather use this momentum to clean house at the University (academically AND athletically) and get the right hires in place. I think going after a Gruden or a Petersen with serious cash should be the top option now.
But you're right, with our current leadership, it won't happen.
That's a valid point about not firing Currie to hold down the flames ,but Currie set the fire. While the flames are burning push him in with it. Get it over with, like pulling a bandaid.I get what you are saying my point I guess is if Currie is at the Helm no way he comes. And I don't think the university fires Currie right now. I think he gets to make a hire fast because firing him would only add more debacle in the national Spotlight and I really don't think they want that.
Here's the thing, if people such as boosters and what not want change and want the Haslam's out of the picture then why not leak this whole messed up situation to someone like Trey Wallace or Clay Travis or Barrett Sallee?
It would seem like that's the only real way change will happen, get the dirty laundry in the hands of someone in the media. Make it so uncomfortable for the Haslams that they have no choice but to back off
While it might cause a big black eye for the university and the program it might be the only way to being about real change.
As the Joker said you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs
Now someone please tell me how to make that my aviator image. Thanks.
That ReVolt image should be on the Rock.
I wish people would get the fact that he is not, NOT coming. In fact, I think that was part of the reason people were so pissed about GS. The administration and even Gruden himself have teased the fan base about Gruden being a serious candidate, and he is not. Move on!:hi:
I am not 100% sure this is accurate but wanted to pass along anyways. Someone very connected to the Haslam camp told me they went back to Gruden on Saturday night and offered him and his staff an insane amount of money. He turned it down again; Currie panicked due to the timeline he told people and hopped on a plane to Columbus.
Could be true or could be Haslam pushing Currie as the fall guy
Just a friendly 2 cents worth from your brother Razorback to west. I don't have enough posts to start my own thread and probably won't. Just FYI, I love your program as an east division competitor.
I followed this forum and your Vol twitters for a couple hours Sunday as this was going down. The entire thing was pure comedy. The funny thing is Schiano most likely was the best coach you were going to find. He can't help the fact he worked at Penn State in the early 90's. To suggest he knew anything about what was going on at that time is ridiculous. If he did witness that going on, he just might have walked in the shower and ripped Sandusky's pecker off and kicked his butt. His Rutgers time was great. He turned a losing program into a winner the last 7 years he was there after he got his players and rebuilt the culture. Hence the reason the Bucs took a chance on him. Who cares what he did in the NFL. Saban and Spurrier didn't last either.
I understand I don't have much room to talk b/c my moronic peers ran off Houston Nutt when you folk was running off Fulmer in a similar manner. So that's 2 highly successful coaches that had a disappointing year and the internet lynch mobs runs them off. But Sunday I was just happy that joke was on ya'll and not us. Your Tennessee Volunteer program is such a joke these days I'm embarrassed to share a state border with you. I can even say that after sitting through the Bielema error. Your dumpster fire burns so big even I'm getting warm hundreds of miles away. You folks want to pick the coach, then you pick the coach. Get Kiffin and all his character baggage if he will come back. You're looking at another 10 years just like the last 10 years. I actually like your program and it's sad to see how far it's fallen since Fulmer left. After Sunday your program is the joke of college football. Any decent coach would be a fool to step in your dumpster fire. You think you're Florida but your the equivalent to Kentucky.
So I have a serious question? What if this is all one big giant smokescreen?
At one time someone speculated that Currie was a slick individual. What if he never contacted Shiano? What if he leaked it to his staff to find out who wasnt loyal?
Think about it. No comment from Shiano or gruden in all of this and a half hearted bull**** letter from Davenport and Currie.
Then everyone said gruden signed the 14th. Tell me how any of this makes sense lol. Im so lost right now
I'd take Kiffen all day long. Yea he left in the middle of the night and hurt some feeling because we thought "were tennessee" how dare you do this to us. Whatever get over it, the man is a baller of a coach. After Dooley,Butch, and almost Shiano I would be over joyed to get Kiffen at least we would win games even if it was for a short time. but I think Kiffen has grown up and realized he can't just jump all over the place.
Personally, I do not care what the national media thinks about UT right now. I care about our athletic program and specifically our football team not sucking hind tit to the rest of the SEC. We have to get our house in order first. It may cost us some recruits this time. So be it. Get the hire right and then everything else will be straightened out. But we can not have Currie making a desperation hire just like Hamilton did with DD.
Fire Currie, get a competent AD, then hire the football coach.
