Honestly I do think we missed our chance! Currie had one job. The boosters had Gruden sold and all goofball had to do was present him the contract.

I don’t buy it. With those egos, nothing would have been better that trotting Gruden out in front of the masses. They could have been kings. We never had him.

That’s that part that troubles me. They had to know people would be pissed and they didn’t care. That tells me they have enough money to not care about other Boosters.

What's wrong with Currie going rogue to the Haslam's? They and Bev pretty much threw him under the bus, put in drive, ran over him (all tires), put in reverse and ran over him again. We all know Gruden will not fall into the money pit. Heck his agent IS NOT Sexton.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you.

I foresee that Haslam and Currie will do another end around and give us some dud of a coach; this time without the leak.

We could do (and have done) much worse than Kiffin. Hindsight is 20/20. He knows that he screwed up in 2009. He could have won 2 - 3 SEC titles since then if he had stayed, easily. He doesn't have a shot at that at Florida Atlantic. I wanted to string him up in 2009 like almost everybody else - but time and reason has tempered my anger.

I thought your summary of what went down that you posted in the previous thread was outstanding. Wish I'd written it. :) You laid it out pretty much exactly as I think it happened. Currie was running a shell game. We are fortunate that the whistle was blown in time for Vol Nation to kill the Schiano travesty.

lol. I had over 400 on ignore, last week. No matter how many I added, there were more to replace them. (Zombie Nega Grude's). I cleared all my ignore list a couple days ago.

Theory 1:
  • There were reports PM and a few others approved the Schiano hire (cannot confirm or deny truth to that rumor).
  • If true, does this set up Currie to be the fall guy? Hard to think they would torch his career over this, but wouldn't be surprised the other way, either.
  • This sets the stage to get Blackburn in at AD asap.
  • With Blackburn in, Gruden can be announced.
  • This is the only theory I can rationalize if Gruden did indeed already sign an MOU. I have a hard time rationalizing this, though, but otherwise wouldn't Gruden have legal rights to sue UT as well? UTVolinExile, thoughts on the last part?

Theory 2:
Currie is an incompetent arse and Big Jim's puppet to do as he sees fit, and nothing really makes sense.

The one thing they should now have firmly imbedded in their souls is fear; fear of losing the fan base and thus $. An underwhelming hire could hit their bottom line. That’s all I have to keep me optimistic at this point.

A lot of the gruden stuff seemed BS after this Schiano thing came out. We all heard AV comments.

You may get a black eye when you get in a fight. Sometimes, it's worth it. I would rather the University have a black eye, which may take a year or two to heal, than have another horrible coach for the next 4-5 years. Give me two black eyes, but we're not going down again without a fight. The fans have had enough.

this person also claimed to be an insider and even said 100% the deal was done.after it didn't happen they said they had bad info and owned up, but they seem very bitter about it all.
