The biggest problem isnt whether or not Currie makes the hire, its convincing a coach that Currie isnt on the hot seat.

No coach good coach wants to take a job where his boss could be gone in a year.

I don't put people on ignore. Just a personal preference.

I thought your summary of what went down that you posted in the previous thread was outstanding. Wish I'd written it. :) You laid it out pretty much exactly as I think it happened. Currie was running a shell game. We are fortunate that the whistle was blown in time for Vol Nation to kill the Schiano travesty.

Thanks for that compliment. I've just been trying to put the pieces together and sort out the wheat from the chaff. I think I've pretty much figured out who to trust and who to dismiss. I've got more of a Clint Eastwood/Woodrow Call (Lonesome Dove) personality when faced with rude and stupid people and bullies, even internet bullies. If I don't ignore them, I'm likely to say something I shouldn't. You are far more gracious. I commend you for that. I also have the utmost respect for you for standing up for what you believe.

Spent the last few minutes catching up.

Man, I sort of miss the days of being gone an hour and having 30+ pages to catch up on.

Oh well, on to the next chapter whatever that may be.

See y'all tomorrow.

There were multiple reasons the Schiano was objectionable. But I think it is wrong to suggest that his questionable history in relation to child abuse didn't play a primary role in yesterday's events.

Oh I am not saying it didn't play into yesterday's events. What I am saying is that yesterday's events are being viewed in some heroic light that we/someone saved the day from Tennessee hiring a "morally deficient man" when in fact we just tried to get a better football coach. I bet the info regarding Penn State didn't start the fire but only added fuel later. The we turn it into a narrative about how morally upright we are. That's the problem. If it were a "homerun-hire-coach" with Penn State ties we wouldn't have said a word.

I think it has been Haslam from beginning... not just this hire.

Exactly. The Chancellor and AD faces change, but the results remain the same. So, you have to find the common denominator, and bingo, we've found it.

Unless you remove the head from the snake, it slithers along.

Wrong.

Don't want anyone that might be connected to the PSU kiddie-diddler connected to TN.

Period.

Exactly......the first time the university is linked to any sexual misconduct, rape, or assault by an employee, students or athletes....wth do you think the media is going to say....especially if we had Schiano as a coach here.....he is a liability and whether he did or didn't .....you don't take chances on that. Would people allow a little league coach to coach their children .....if said coach was linked in any way to a child rape case......errrrrrmmmmm not me. And if you would.....your probably not a parent....or you have highly questionable judgement.

I am now wholly convinced that UT will remain mired in mediocrity. Tee is looking like our ceiling, and while I would support him because of what he did here, he will get eaten alive his first few years in the SEC.

Y’all see the poll about Kiffin? 85% of Volnation would take him back. I have to say... I’d consider it. He thrives as a villain and right now, that’s what we are to a lot of people. It’s been 10 years. All the hot chicks have turned us down and the one left is cross eyed but is shaply for someone who’s 5’2. What’d ya do?

He has he ego and the balls to say yes and not blink to what is going on with the program. I say bring him on.

And Chris low just keeps reporting dumb stuff... everyone that turns us down, he sends out in a notification.

I disagree. Art Briles...helluva coach. I would have raised nine kinds of hell if Currie would have went after him.

Absolutely agree with that. Can't fire Haslam. But, if you remove his puppets, he can't impose his will. Get Davenport and Currie out, put in Fulmer as AD and he will command respect and never bend to Haslam's crap. Haslam will be effectively neutered (man, that sounds really good, doesn't it?)

Not the Powerball jackpot, but still a jackpot considering our circumstances.
