Someone has leverage to bring 16 in on this
So PMs back up who beat Florida and won a Natty isnt ready to be a HC? According to whom? Oh yeah, a guy whos never been a college coach and might just be a little envious of those who have - particularly one who won a Natty the year after he graduated. Anyone else see what I see here? hmmm....
I keep seeing posters in here that desperately want to tell people that Gruden is not coming. Why are you in this thread? Do you not have anything that you enjoy other than being negative to someone that has done nothing to you? Go spend time with your family, loved ones, or friends. I have to think with the attitudes you have in here they may not want to be around you either. Participate with a good heart like a normal person.
John Currie needs to go........NOW. He has lied to this fan base in this coaching hire, and to some of the boosters as well. In a time of having to compete with the likes of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, we cannot have another 'bargain' coach. He announced a $340 million upgrade. Do you really expect to fill the seats with Brohm? Norville? Coach Cutcliff? Or maybe your choice is Campbell. If UT does not get a championship caliber coach, (which the afformentioned are certainly not) we will be stuck at the bottom of SEC football for years.
I have followed UT since 1965. Had season tickets during the Bill Battle era. This next hire can't be a run of the mill coach. Maybe you don't care about the casual fan. But, I can say this with certainty, that UT will suffer fan apathy if one of the above coaches is hired. You choice Chancellor.
My e-mail to the Chancellor. Your turn.

SIAP, but this just goes to show that Currie was never serious about Gruden, never looked at Gruden, and probably never even thought about his name outside that one press conference question. Just ridiculous.
he laid the hammer down, that was a great response.......may need to copy it here.
Here it is:

@flabuck UT didn't want an individual who has been accused by an individual who was under oath of not reporting child sexual abuse. UT didn't want an individual who was voted as the least desirable coach to work for by NFL players. UTdidn't want a person who mistreated multiple employees while working for Tampa Bay. UT didn't want an individual who claims he never did what he was accused of, but yet has never sued McQuary for slander.
Bottom line is that there is much evidence that he's a horrible person, and that doesn't even include the issues relating to possibly not reporting the child sex abuse.
Before you criticize the fans of our proud university, you had better look at your own cast of characters and their many faults. Like your football coach, who had 30+ players arrested at Florida in a 2 year span. Like your AD, who narrowly avoided a show cause penalty during the chaos and deceit that was the last few years of the Jim Tressell era. Gene Smith, who has covered and minimized rulebreaking before, is the last person that I would listen to when it comes to moral and ethical issues in sports.
The difference between the osu and Tennessee is that the fans here realize that there is more to winning than overlooking ethics and morality. It is a sad state of our country when fans get criticized for standing up against a crappy man like Schiano, who was a crappy man even without the allegations of not reporting sexual abuse. And, BTW, do you REALLY think that he spent 5 years of his life working with Sandusky at PSU and didn't know what was going on, when there were rumors for years and years regarding Sandusky's behavior? Get real.
I've never been more proud of a fanbase that what I am of UT fans today. This was a far bigger issue that what is being reported by the national media. It's time that there is accountability for leaders of athletic programs, who get millions of taxpayers dollars from you and me.
Oh, and the other aspect of all of this that gets no reporting by the national media. Who pushed and pushed for Schiano to be hired? None other than our great owner of the Browns, Jimmy Haslam. After all that Jimmy has destroyed with the Browns, do you really think that he and his recommendations should be listened to? H*LL NO! People in Knoxville will not be happy until integrity is restored to UT,the President, Chancellor and Currie are fired, and Jimmy Haslam is brought down a few pegs and learns to make good business decisions related to sports..
When federal dollars are dispersed to state and local governments, then guess what, whatever those funds are used for is also FOIA-ble...I have worked in state and Federal govt...I have had to respond to numerous requests...ultimately all a part of being "open and transparent"...try again with another internet search.
So does currie actaully get fired? I think its a great sign we didnt hear an announcement today of a coach coming. Makes me think hes been at least temporarily reeled in.
I dont believe Peyton was in on it. Haslams have shown their willing to throw ANYONE under the bus after the Pilot investigation to save face and deflect.
Which brings me to another point. How are we allowing someone who multiple people on the stand say was behind the fraud scandal, anywhere near our university right low.
I would not say that I'm 100% he's gone. With that said, I don't see how he can survive. We all need to get up in the morning and start again with emails. They need to fire Currie and remove Haslam from the search committee. UT Football will not survive with these people at the helm..Who in the hell wants to hire Schiano?
Then he damn well needs to say something!! PM has enough pull with TNs AD to NOT be thrown under the bus.
I don't want to believe that PM was involved in this cluster**** but his silence is damning, to say the least.
I prefer the information flowing. There's definitely more to this whole thing than has surfaced so far.
