Technically everyone in the AD reports to Currie but it is not quite like a normal reporting structure. The assistant AD’s are fielding calls from from boosters. Account reps are dealing with lower tier donors. Condredge has been getting calls as well. That entire staff has been getting their asses handed to them today. I didn’t say the nuclear option was off the table but you have to be careful it doesn’t become a paper tiger. If every time something doesn’t go our way and we threaten to take our money and go home we look like spoiled children. Playing that card means walking away from years of investment. It is a break the glass type thing and I’m not sure it will be needed for what unfolds next. Last night was a react right now issue that had to be stopped immediately. Removing John then Bev will be much more calculated and maybe even a drawn out process. I know many would love to just reset with the right people tomorrow but it will not be that easy. One thing that separates people in power is they usually have a strong will to win and they know most people don’t have the guts to pursue long term pressure. Bottom line is they know weak willed people quit. That is why I am saying the pressure has to be constant and we have to commit to it long term.

Do you think Currie stays long enough to sneak another Haslam stooge coach in?

This VFL clamor for Tee would not be happening minus the UT ties. Not an exciting hire at all, they want him here because they would have one of their own in charge and feel comfortable with it. No way he is considered based on his coaching resume at this point. Nothing more than a hire with "potential". Well that potential swings both ways. We need a proven winner at the highest level to resurrect this program.

I bet UT hires him though. Just don't be upset when we get circles coached around us for next few years while Tee is learning on the job.

I don't think we hire him unless we get a lot of no's. Not understanding why Miles name isn't popping up more. His resume alone should put him on top of most coaching boards.

Taking your money away just means that those who continue to make sizeable contributions begin to have more pull (more-so than they already have); the donor pool becomes less watered down, per se. Needless to say, unless the sum of those willing to walk away exceeds the conglomerate of the upper-tiers, there probably won't be much push-back

Remind me to never listen to the Overtime show on FOX Radio again. Had to be the most wasted time in my life at least since I watched that Baywatch movie a while back.

Quick reminder: never listen to the Overtime show on FOX Radio again...

Done, and you're welcome

Honestly though, and hear me out here, I would be okay with that if it meant that we had a coach here for more than just 3 or 4 years, which I think every rational, and even most irrational fans, would understand that it would take a few years of him learning on the job. Furthermore, if it meant that we could finally get someone in here with ties to the university, someone who gets our passion, and someone who can recruit and would be smart enough to surround himself with experienced assistants, I would be all for it. Sadly though, I truly foresee us going with a Brohm, Bobo, or someone of that caliber because Currie will be too scared to roll the dice on Tee.

Ok, this question is for the Grudenites and not the haters. I know there's movement on Tee Martin right now and I hope that works out but let's say Currie is let go. Someone like Phil steps in. Could he approach Gruden and would Gruden listen or is he dead-set on ESPN for life?

I could live with Tee, certainly.

He's not the tier we were originally looking for, but as a fallback at this point, he's attractive. And a VFL, which will heal a lot of wounds over coming months and years.

And who knows, he might be capable of championships, with some growth in the job.

Yep, wouldn't complain about Tee. Be pretty content.

We'll probably be hiring a new coach in 4-5 years. A Vol that played on the NC team will be hard to fire.

If we hire Tee I'd rather it be when he's ready to take over.
