Recruiting Forum Football Talk XLVII

Talked to someone today and the AD is a freaking mess. Finger pointing and wondering what is going to happen next. Scrambling to make a hire and decide who it's going to be they target. Cut will be the first contacted I believe.

At this point if they can sign Brohm they probably should.

If they officially offer Tee the head spot he will take it. He would be crazy not to but his experience is thin for my taste but I would take it at this point.

I really do not think Cut is a possibility. If he were that's where I would go and throw a huge raise to Tee and beg him to come be OC and HC in waiting. Of course this is unlikely to happen because no one I know think Cut is a real possibility. He, and more importantly his wife, are very happy at Duke plus can Currie really hire him being the one who was responsible for his departure? I DO NOT see Curie having the ability to pull this off.

I do not see us hiring any of the top names being thrown around (Venables, Cut, Strong, Miles or even Pruitt)

All things considered I think Tee probably gets his shot and I am ok with it. Not "thrilled" but there is always the "what if?". He could kill it if he has Fulmer to be his tutor and VFls get involved. It's probably our best shot at this point.

Lastly the Haslams are going to kill Tennessee football if not stopped.

Sorry for the long post been in meetings all day and haven't been able to keep up on here.
Thank B. You have been steady through all of this and that is appreciated.

You know, I'll say this, I feel bad that Greg Schiano's character was maligned (assuming that he is telling the truth and that he really didn't see anything), but that is Currie's/Haslam's/Davenport's/Manning's/Whoever else was involved's fault, not the fanbase's. Opposing fans were already crying foul about Schiano's past, and you have to know it would have been used against us relentlessly in recruiting. This would have happened anywhere he was hired, not just here.

For a school that just got through an expensive Title IX scandal, and in the age of social media, even considering anyone who is even alleged to have been anywhere close to the Sandusky scandal is indefensible malpractice.

Rumblings in AD they are now panicking and are hesitant to offer a coach cause they don't want to over pay for the fiasco yesterday.

I was worried that they would screw the pooch and it looks like it has happened.

Siap.

Add Bomani Jones to the list of defenders at ESPN. He just went on a tirade / rant (as he often does) that Schiano was a terrible hire and Tennessee deserved better. He barely mentioned the PSU stuff, just that Schiano was never that great at Rutgers and terrible in the nfl.

Says we dodged a bullet.

And on top of that Hyams and Hubbs both saying there’s a chance we pay.

We are paying. I hope they owe the full buyout personally.

It would hurt, but honestly it probably should. Maybe people will look more askance at the Haslams and their puppets going forward if we have to essentially flush money down the toilet over this nonsense.

Bomani defending us isn’t something to be proud of.

Also I think ESPN canceled him. He sucks and his show sucks.

He had about 50 tweets about it yesterday. Said that after Bama were are easily the 2nd best program in the SEC historically. He really went all in for the fans.
