Dan Mullen just used "champions of life..." in his opening statement at UF presser. Crucify him media!

Vol Twitter is where that stuff originates. Doesn’t start with national media. That stuff is entirely self inflicted. Yesterday vol twitter set it’s sights on a target outside of UT. For the past few years they have been a constant mob that the football program has fought against. Imagine combatting them on a daily basis. So annoying.

This! Wtf Currie!? A freaking egomaniac with a **** record! That’s really what you thought we wanted?

It's not Currie. It's Haslam.

If Schiano demanded $7 million/year because he was coaching somewhere else and having success, they would have ponied up the cash. Jimmy Haslam was infatuated with Greg Schiano and installed a stooge of an AD in order to hire him.

The fact that Schiano is only a DC right now and could be had for a relatively low salary was just a bonus. Not the deciding factor.

It's sort of hilarious that every "smokescreen" or "hint" from Currie and the UT admins was the exact opposite.

I have been so happy today. To finally see these a-holes get openly revealed for the entire state to see is so gratifying. It's the same playbook all of the time. They play out the string on every issue/hiring, lie their azzes off to do what they want, cut it off when it gets rocky, let their scapegoats take the fall, then go do it all over again. Seeing that system exposed has been well worth the short term pain.

We won a big battle yesterday, but not the war. I hope the legislators along with the rest of us will keep this going at them hard. It starts with who replaces DiPietro.

💯 💯 💯

Patterson and Petersen said no. Frost wouldn't interview. Mullen preferred UF.

Ah, NM. Sorry to bring facts to the party. That went over so well during Grudapalooza.

Part of being a successful athletic department is managing expectations. How did Currie and Bev think that keeping the Gruden buzz going was going to help them in their search? No one needed smokescreens around a Schiano hire. I haven't heard a single report that we were even competing with anyone for him. Sure, he may have turned down 2 jobs last year, but this year there was no smoke for him.

Had Currie come out and ended the Gruden rumors once he knew for sure it was done, he may have been able to salvage Schiano as a coach. It's fine to do some smokescreening when you know your actual hire is going to be exciting. However, if you know your hire will be a huge blow to a fan base with high expectations, you need to be as transparent as you can be, so that we, as fans, can rationalize how we ended up with Schiano when you promised something big, explosive, and expensive. Funny, that Currie is the one that ended up with something big, explosive, and expensive without even having a coach in place right now.
