Official Jon Gruden Thread XLIV

This is what pisses me off most. There's NO PROOF that Schiano was our last viable option. In fact, it seems there were more than a few candidates on the board still that the boosters had agreed to in theory.

Currie's decision came out of nowhere, and could have potentially tanked the whole program into hiring another unproven coach AGAIN.
no inside sources, just stuff I have heard on the radio. Supposedly, Sexton declared that it was Schiano's turn to get a head coach job next. Mullen got to jump line for UF because it was his dream job so we were going to be stuck with you know who. A lot of the backlash we are getting probably has more to do with angst about us not following the predetermined pecking order than anything else.

Just had a heated text exchange with a friend who lives in Ohio and is a rabid buckeye fan. He states we did Schiano wrong and we won’t recover from this. I proceeded to educate him for about 30 mins all the while reminding him that his beloved Browns are run by the same man who is running down my Vols. He saw my point.

We have to fight the perception the national media is projecting on us. We can’t win with swearing and FU’s to everyone but with thought out well explained arguments as to why this transpired yesterday. Our tweets have to be aimed with precision and fired with intention. We don’t need to look like the white trash they think we are. They need to know this is bigger than Schiano. It’s bigger than Gruden. Make your statements heard and articulate them and as best you can. If you need help, ask. Let’s fight this as educated men and women who know how to kick A$$ with class.

All Vol fans are saying is that "we" do not want "anyone" associated with that disgusting part of history. NO ONE is saying that Schiano is a pedophile, and no one is saying he for sure knew. We're saying that he is linked to it, and that is bad enough in itself.

Schiano
ESPN
All you idiot reporters that are saying we are in the wrong
Currie

GTFO!!!!!

Sorry I had to, I can't stand this.

The biggest piece to this is Schiano being one of Sexton's clients.

Sexton is either having an affair with the Haslams, or has the dirtiest of dirt on everyone he does business with. He not only managed to get one of his goons hired by Currie, he also has the national media pundits backing Schiano as if the guy were a Saint who spent his life coaching orphans in SE Asia.

The guy has been hated everywhere he goes, and that's not even including Sandusky stuff.

Gruden will not say anything, he didn't last time either. Anything from Gruden will come from his agent Lamonte. In 2012, Lamonte issued a strongly worded letter saying Gruden wasn't interested.

I still find it interesting Lamonte has not issued any sort of statement to this point.

Vols should hashtag #MNF with the hashtag #GrudenisaTroll

No, don't. Screw ESPN we have been the running joke of the day on all avenues. Will never watch anything on there or SEC network again. I'm an old school mountain justice type and holder of grudges, they is dead to me.

I won't not watch ESPN, but I'm damn sure going to stream their games from now on, I won't give them the ratings.

"Dear Chancellor Davenport,

I am writing you today to voice my extreme displeasure with the actions of leadership at the University of Tennessee yesterday. Specifically, the actions of Athletic Director John Currie in pursuing an unvetted and reckless agenda to hire an individual with serious questions as to his fitness to represent our University as its head football coach.

The back door actions of AD Currie are underhanded and I'll timed. I will not stand for such actions as I hold the University to a much higher standard. This is a time when Tennessee needs to bring someone in whom has high character and class. In no such manner should we ever consider a man whom, by all accounts, wipes his ass with them. I demand that Currie be removed and all that supported such a heinous act removed as well.

I wish to inform you that I can no longer support the University that I love through my actions or my financial contributions, so long as John Currie is employed as Athletic Director. I will reconsider this decision at such time as he is no longer employed by the University.

We will not go quietly into the night. We will not go down without a fight.

No longer in support of you,

Laura Rutledge is still hot but her just now backing Schiano on Finebaum causes me to only drool at her with one eye....she must be with Sexton ?

Multiple people saying Peyton signed off and worked with Currie on getting Schiano, including Swain. I used to love Peyton, but he is dead to me. Sold us out to kiss the Haslam ring.

He may have done it as a favor because Haslam is looking at Manning for the Browns front office. Still pretty dang sad. But, Manning may never have looked into the story and only went off what he was told by Haslam. We will never know.

Just sucks, all the media want to point out how bad of a fan base we are,but yet never ONCE mentioning why Schiano would have been a good candidate...Take out the Penn st bs and his record alone should have kept him outta consideration.

No way. We need a HC with HC experience not serve as an on the job training type of hire.

The only HC with experience we will get is some G5 coach who is mediocre. Tee with a great supporting staff would be a bigger boom than any of those options.

This is what I think. He sold out his alma matter for his future career.
