That's the most hypocritical part of all of this - of the big mouths trashing Tennesseeans, who wants Schiano to be the HC at their favorite school? smh...

Frost has committed to Nebraska. He ain't budging. Taggart is waiting for FSU. He'd use us just like Mullen did.

Listen, I love Cut and would take him in a heartbeat. But if he's not okay with Tee coming in as OC then it's a tough sell. And he wouldn't be okay with it - forcing a staff on him was the reason he didn't take the job in 2010. Cut wouldn't be able to recruit well enough because I don't think recruits would believe he'd be here their 4 full years.

Tee is the guy. They should get it done.

Probably right but I would still throw it out there.

Why does Tee have to be on staff?

Ole Miss wouldn’t take Pruitt. I don’t think we want to go that route.

Tee was the man here at QB, but if he didn’t win a championship here, nobody would be talking about him (much less want him) for this job. If it comes down to it, I’ll take a shot with Tee, but it’s a huge risk hire.

Venables if he will take it.

Edit: or Brohm, if he will take it.

i don't think Tee is ready to be an SEC head coach right now. He's only been a coordinator for a few years. (2?) I've really only seen him prove himself as a recruiter. I understand the good vibes that come from hiring a Tennessee man, but those vibes will rot as soon as he starts losing games. I think we look to Taggert and Brohm first. If those fall through, let's go after Venables. The man has led excellent defenses at multiple schools over a decade. If Tee wants to come and be his OC, then great, bring him on board.

It pains me to know that UT would turn down Leach based on a perceived dissonance about UT's culture. The man wins games, the press conference, and his teams will score. Give him an SEC level DC and let's ride. We may not win 11 games every year, but we sure as hell won't get punked by Vandy and Kentucky.

Dabo had never even been a coordinator anywhere and was the exact same age. He was known as a terrifc recruiter and nothing else, he was just a TE coach.

McElroy lakes about Leach this morning. Said he'd be a coach that could handle the Tennessee fan base without a doubt. Said he didn't think his offense would work in the SEC tho. I'd have to presume McElroy knows what he's talking about when it comes to what it takes to win in the sec...

I agree I'd be worried about leach's offense in this conference. Also he would have to hire a top notch DC as well. I think leach at TN would equal Summon at TAMU not that thats a bad thing just my opinion

Stupid statement by McElroy. Leach might have overall issues but Leach's offense set records when he was at Kentucky.

It's clear where Tennessee stands in the eyes of the media. Hasn't changed in 20+ years. Yesterday was just a trailer park frenzy from some racist ignorant spoiled fans who think they're still living in the 90s, of course.

I've wanted Venables from the start. Doubt we can get a sitting coach at this point. Do it please.

This.

Instant credibility in the homes of recruits. Great D schemes and development. That takes care of 2 of the most important 3 aspects of coaching football. All the rest is window dressing.

Is there anything from a pure coaching standpoint you would prefer Tee?

Game day coaching? I would prefer his recruiting for one as part of coaching, but game day coaching is a mystery for both as a head coach. Both are successful coordinators, but we have no evidence for either as who the Best head coach would be. So I’d take Martin as a TN guy and his recruiting, pair him with Steele or another top DC and I think we’ll win a lot of games. Plus he’s a better fit.

But none of us know who the better head coach would be because neither have done it.

I keep hearing ole miss wouldn’t take Pruitt bu I’ve also heard the NCAA is going to have some stiff penalities and that’s why he didn’t take it or they wouldn’t take him. Heard Luke loves ole miss and ole miss thinks he is stable enough to weather the storm coming.

I agree with Ziti here about Hubbs. We just didn't want to hear what he was peddling. I believe that Schiano was third on the list behind Petersen and Mullen. When those two were out of it, they went straight to Schiano. My guess is that most in the AD thought we had secured Mullen until Florida kept striking out. I let the Grumors get me too riled up when every trace of sense that I have was screaming at me to not believe it. Jimmy was right as well, and we just didnt want to believe it.

The over looking of Willie Taggart on this board is insane. Next season when he is knocking down another top class with more wins we will beg for him.

I'm intrigued to know where Hubbs gets his Haslam info from. That source, unfortunately, is the best source in the business. Because it's dead-on 99% of the time.
