People saying cutcliffe is to old really need to check the ages of some of the top coaches tons of men in their 60's. A great 4-5 years with him spring boards you out of this BS we are currently in.

The PSU stuff doesn't lack credibility. People were jailed using McQuery testimony.

It isn't the only character flaw used as reasoning. Look at past player accounts of him as coach, Josh Freeman files released, ordering the DL to dive at the knees of the OL while they are in the V formation, twice! There are plenty of reasons, without the PSU situation, that his character is questionable at best.

That's not even mentioning his bad to average coaching credentials.

drylo, I'm not sure what you gain by being a contrarian and trying to constantly put down the people in here or the fanbase, but I can't imagine it's a tangible benefit.

I’m not trying to be contrarian and put everyone down. And I don’t take pleasure in the fact that certain posters on this board apparently feel like I am. I want the Vols to be great again, and I want our fans to help it happen. I am absolutely flabbergasted that this administration tried to trot out Schiano, for all the reasons you listed above. I’m not putting all the blame on fans at all, but I do think our fan base is a little deluded and too hard to please, given the circumstances.

Truth is, maybe it works out for us better in the long term if we hire Tee and he becomes the next Fulmer, but we nuked our program yesterday. Currie loaded the explosive and the fans, boosters, etc., lit the fuse. We need to overcorrect in support of the new coach, even if we lose a lot for a few years. I don’t want to lose a lot, but it’s the truth.

Evidently this is the owner of the Casual Pint here in Knoxville. I believe he should probably look to closing up and leaving town.

To be clear he owns the Casual Pint on Northshore. They are a franchise business.

Oh and I wanna go on record and apologize to Bass, inVOL, and Ulysees for giving you all grief about not being patient with Currie and saying Blackburn was screwed and deserved this job.

You guys have been around this program way longer than I have and I naively wanted to believe that the people in charge had good reasons for their actions.

It’s obvious now that I was wrong and you guys knew better than I did all along.

:hi:

I was wrong on the Grumors so we're even.

People need to call into finebaum and any other national call in show and blast Haslam and Currie. They need to know that we know who pushed Schiano.
They need to know we don't accept being flat out lied to.
They need to know we are done bending over so Haslam can have his ego stroked.

Too Early is the worst excuse for not pulling the trigger on someone. It’s how you get left behind in any industry. You have a good idea or potential employee... you give then a shot.

Not on this count, IMO. Nobody was hurrying to hire Schiano. Trying to hire him so close to an embarrassing loss to Vandy is beyond DUMB

Responding to a lot of posts all at once here...

The talk about not wanting him regardless of the PSU stuff is exactly the problem here. (And I agree, I didn’t want him either.) Danny K is catching heat here (surprise), but I don’t know that he’s that wrong, truthfully — the PSU rumor about Schiano knowing about Sandusky was a convenient reason to torpedo the hire. The PSU stuff lacks credibility, and that plus the fact that people see our fan base as expecting to get Gruden (i.e. sky-high expectations) will make them question why we revolted against the hire.

Especially coming after the Cuonzo petition (which I didn’t sign but didn’t mind either), we just nuked ourselves, Missouri-style. And now people are clamoring to hire Tee, just like Missouri ran to Barry Odom.

Whoever the next coach is, I am pleading with Vol Nation to be patient. It may be very slow progress getting back to the top, but doing what we are doing (turning on Butch when he was making progress) isn’t going to work. There isn’t a Saban we can go hire. We are going to have to scratch and claw out of this mess.

GTFO of here with that first paragraph. I guess you just glossed past all the people saying they didn't feel like they could take their boys to games, were torn up by thinking about having to turn their back on something they love, etc. News flash, that doesn't happen if UT hires literally anyone else short of Art Briles. If that's really how you feel about this situation, then this board isn't the right place for you.

I mean in regards to “Tee isn’t ready” “aranda isn’t ready” etc. if they have the traits. Give them a shot. Traits are sometimes better than accomplishments.

I'm afraid we're really gonna regret Currie not going after Mullen. Would have been a really solid hire.
LMAO off to those insiders that said he'd never leave Starkville, and pissed at UF!
