Don't expect a homerun hire now...

Our fan based destroyed that dream. Who would want to take the job knowing that if you weren't the first hire, they aren't going to care at all. That you landed the job knowing that it wasn't based off your football IQ or record. It was based off the fact you weren't part of a sexual scandal.
Not saying Schiano should've been hired, I'm only expressing that the way we acted was way over the top

Nope. If you think for one minute that what UT fans thought wouldn't be emulated and copied by our competition you're out of your mind. We hire an AD who apparently checks all the boxes, then has not the least bit of common sense of how to do this. IF he was your guy, he should have leaked his name last week to gauge public opinion, if he had doubts. The fact that he didn't proves arrogance and total disconnect from southern values.

Hire Fulmer as interim to calm everything down, or Les Miles. WHY ARE WE SO DAMNED SET ON HIRING .500 FOOTBALL COACHES EXPECTING THEM TO ALL THE SUDDEN WIN? We just prevented having to fire another coach in a few years.

If you think for one minute that other SEC fans, though they're laughing at us, aren't on the same page as us, below is a post from UGA fan from another site... they'd all slaughter us on recruiting trail.

This could be an unmitigated disaster in recruiting. How do you walk into a family’s living room with that baggage and convince them to trust you with their son’s future. I know he recruited at OSU, but he was not the guy ultimately in charge. This will be different.

Oh yeah – and he can’t coach worth sh*t at the head level. How could the UT brass think this is a good idea?!

Did you think Schiano was a home run?
If not, then how did the fans kill that dream?
That dream died this morning when we woke up.

I did not want him for all of the above reasons. I do think it may be a good idea to go after a coordinator from a big time school. All the available head coaches seem like duds to me and I never liked Gruden either. It is a risk to go after a coordinator, but some have done very well. There are a lot of good coordinators out there.

The blame is on CURRIE...he is the one who put us in this situation today...he may have put us in a deeper ditch this year than BJ did...we may lose Martinez as well...

The blame is on the Haslams - Currie was hired to be their yes man. Their choice of coach was a disaster like it has been the last several cycles. Time to get them out of the decision making.

I wasn't expecting a home run hire, as a matter of fact, this was no surprise to me the worst possible candidate was picked. Now the administration knows the fans will no longer accept a pacifier.

Oh Bullcrap Dougie. Don't come in here acting like you are our damn den mother. We didn't destroy anything. Currie failed to vet the guy the way a competent AD should any hire. He has been here before and got his masters degree here. Any drunk who likes rye whisky
too much has enough sense to know that any connection to the Sandusky mess wouldn't fly. We aren't talking about a guy accused of littering or forgetting to file a tax return. We are talking about someone who
is accused of witnessing child rape and did nothing.

If you want to see over the top, let any man on this board worth the nine months his mama carried him witness that. If he survived, Sandusky would have been under the prison that year and a lot fewer kids would have gone through that Hell.

A coach will be found. One with real integrity. And in the long term, this fan base will be viewed very differently that these panty waste worthless sports journalists want to think. Now I get why the Caesars fed people like them to the lions.

I never said Schiano was a homerun hire.. I'm stating that if TN was ever going to get one, we are not getting one now.

I'm just saying that the way things happen , I'm not sure if ANY decent coach will want to coach here.

Did you see any coaches go "nah I will never hire Schiano".. but you know who did? Urban Meyers.. and he's pretty respected.

I just think that any coaches that were interested before will second, triple guess themselves in coming here... just the way he may feel the fans might treat him.

I did at first but now that I have figured out who is running the AD office I don't expect him to do much. He is Hamilton 2.0 and he was trying to hire another Jones, Dooley type character except this one has a suspicious past at Penn State.

No! Our fanbase saved our program from 5+ years with a mediocre hire. We snatched a bad hire away from the AD. Plenty of really “good” coaches out there.

Might need to be an up and comer now OR a Tennessee guy like Tee, Fulmer, Cutcliffe, Cooter.

You can't not hire Schiano based on an allegation that he knew about Jerry Sandusky, and then hire Jim Bob Cooter, who actually has a criminal record.

Fulmer's not coming back and Cut's not leaving Duke. Tee is a possibility, if you think he can handle the SEC.

Yep you thought it was bad before with Dooley and Butch, well you haven't seen anything yet. Get ready for Irrelevant U for the foreseeable future.

Tennessee football is DEAD>

K State fans said they admired UT fans on their board. Wishing they had stopped Currie too.

So Chicken Currie signed an MOA with Schiano ten went to enjoy some fun and sun in Bahamas as his reward? This was the "Big Hire" that was the culmination of an "Exhaustive" search? We might be a little country, but we aint stupid.

Blaming this on the fans is idiotic!
First- even media outlets questioned the hire, basically said Tennessee had essentially “given up” in hiring Schiano
Second- he is an failure as a coach in the nfl, and won just over 50% of his games at Rutgers...RUTGERS. The big east, even at their weakest stretch .
Third- with the title 9 and “ rape culture” issues we just weathered he is an insanely stupid, insensitive, and foolish hire.
Forth- he reportedly has very poor interpersonal skills with players and is known to have gutted the relationships and created chaos in the locker room at Tampa. In short he is worse than butch!
This hire has WTF and incompetency all around.

Although most of us were hoping for Gruden, most would accept a number of coaches. Schiano is an unacceptable hire based on his record, integrity, and ethics.
