Everyone thought that Currie was using the time during this crap storm of a season to search for a coach.

Then he fired Butch, and we thought, well, he's just waiting for the end of the season to announce a done deal.

Now we find out, he was really doing nothing, traveling around watching basketball, and had done nothing.

NOTHING. FREAKING NOTHING.

This whole time he was completely lost. He can't hire a coach for the same reason we had Dooley and Butch. No money, can't afford a buy out. No one wants to work here.

Excuses. Crap BULLS@#$ EXCUSES!!!

He's worthless. The Chancellor is worthless. The President is worthless. And The Haslams are worthless.

Is it too much to ask for an AD with any damn sense at all? Seriously how in the hell do people get to a position of power with this level of incompetence? I'm just at a loss right now with how someone can be so clueless about who they're hiring. Does Currie insulate himself so much that he really wasn't aware of how badly this would go over?

Who in this day and time would have little enough sense to hire a person with any kind sexual misconduct baggage to the highest paid and most visible position in the state.

No. He's shown himself to be the literal inept hand of Jim Haslam. Shiano was obviously his first an only choice as it was Jim's first and only choice.

If UT football dies it won't be because of this debacle. This is the culmination of 20 years of bad hires in the UT administration, athletic department, and football program.

I'm confident Currie is delivering by far the most entertainment of the season while embodying what has become quintessential Tennessee!!!! Complete idiocy. Anyone with an IQ over 2 would know that the Penn State stuff would never play in the Bible Belt. With the athletic program wrecked, he is setting his sights on the entire region. Fantastic start Cap'n!

I dont think he can. The events of the day will likely do away with any hire such as Petersen, Leach etc.

He needs to go after Taggart, Norvell etc and he better do it quick.

However, even if they come here and do good things, it will be difficult to get over the fact that he honestly thought hiring Greg Schiano was a good idea. What i dont understand is the likes of Fulmer and Manning going along with it. If thats the case he has likely alienated himself as AD.

Worst part is Vol football is officially in turmoil. Seems some players were happy about it, creating a divide between fans and players. This will likely hurt recruiting for the early signing period. It will likely result in the hire of an up and comer again without a full support staff. I could only imagine what is going on behind the scenes at the AD. And now we are likely starting over on a search. Do this story will be rolled through the press for a couple of weeks.

It is just very difficult to find a positive note around UT football right now.

I'm a no on this, but I may be persuaded to change my opinion with a Gruden hire. :)

His first and only football hire ended up being universally rejected and backed out of before it was effective. I would say no, barring an absolute miracle hire and nearly impossible explanation of why this happened.

Can't see him surviving this and would love to see Condridge take his place effective immediately (if he's still working in the AD and not retired).

Currie has been a bumbling, tone deaf incompetent from almost the beginning. I had no opinion until the football season started. He has handled nothing well. Plus, he was at UT under Mike Hamilton, the guy that I once thought was the worst AD in our history.

I don’t know what it takes to recover. Unsure if it’s even possible at this point.

One other thing i’m Noticing is how much of the co stage of this is subtly shifting this to an indictment of UT’s fans instead of asking whether or not the very specific testimony that named Shiano dusquaifies him from a top job ... or even coaching again at all. The testimony describes something way worse than the stuff that has gotten highly successful head coaches fired in the past.

Of course, in our morally bankrupt society, nothing should surprise. Shiano is not a victime here and UT fans are not unreasonable for not liking the hire. Our AD, however, is a clown.

Currie has Haslam's interest at heart, not UT's. Needs to be major changes in UTAD, maybe promote Fulmer to interim AD for the hire. I think we should go after a young guy, not an older guy like Leach or Miles - that would be another disaster. I'm still surprised that no one is mentioning Neal Brown. He'd be a steal and I think he'd be a great hire. Lots of upside.

Agree on Neal Brown. Athletic department isn't smart enough to check him out I bet.
