Did you have the facts

Lay down with dogs you will get fleas.

No one at Tennessee is responsible for any part of his career decisions. You feel bad? Buy a Rutgers jersey and GTFO.

The mob rules. Nobody but Gruden would quiet the mob especially after getting bludgeoned by Vandy. I don't know if Schiano knew about the crime or not. I just want a football coach who can win championships. The accusations are loud but thin. We will be lucky to get a decent high school coach to take this job in this toxic environment.

UT is a brand. It is negligence to allow anyone even slightly tainted by the PSU story to be associated with your brand.

I have no idea what he saw or didn't see at Penn State. What I do know is that if ANYTHING ever crawled up out of that place that happened to slightly involve him, our university would be skewered. You simply CAN NOT take that type of chance when dealing with a public institution as ours. You can't have any sort of link or possibility that can hang over the head of you highest paid state employee. It just isn't something you should do. He can have the chance somewhere else, but in my opinion, not here. Currie was a fool to think this would go over.
Thats a simple cop-out. Plain and simple. The fans didn't get the coach they wanted and they latched onto the first negative thing they could find to justify the outrage. If I were a betting man I would bet that 98% of everyone here yelling with the moral outrage had no idea that he was even a coach at Penn State during that mess. And to top it off he was a mere 25 years old at the time. But hey if your narrative.

Glad you actually read it Joe. We are screwed. No coach wants a fan base that believes lies, cries wolf, and gets their way all the time.

Currie learned a hard lesson tonight. Pander to the fanbase and soon you’ll be sitting with them. Thanks guys. Have fun looking up at UK and Vandy.

Are you happy to blatantly disregard fact and condemn a guy for no reason. Man our fan base is ignorant.
I agree. Unfortunately, this is a battle that you can't win. I tried last night. You can't reason with ignorance and a mob mentality. It would serve them right if Schiano became the next Saban, and we hire one doofus after another.

I don't know what he did or didn't KNOW in the PSU fiasco...

He's just ANOTHER candidate for the HC hire who would NOT BE ABLE to recruit and lead us to the SEC crown.....and reveals to us all that CURRIE is a complete MORON for even considering him for the position...

That's why I DON'T WANT HIM....

Pandering to the House of Haslam has us looking up at Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

I guess it depends what one considers a heck of a job...his Rutgers record was just one game over .500 and IMHO that would not qualify as a heck of a job!

And that was in the Big East conference at the time....
He sucked there too!

Unfortunately, we may be doomed to mediocrity.

I'm with Mitzustu.

There is no proof he did anything wrong.

I'm embarrassed for the school and the state.

Yes, we're screwed .....for along time.

Our fans did not start or end this John Currie is the one. He is the sob who should be fired. If he is too stupid not to realize what would happen then he needs another line of work.

I have to admit that I may have done just that. He's not who I wanted so I latched onto the allegations even though I felt they were weak at best.

Now that the dust has settled, I'm a little ashamed cause a man's career was probably ruined today.

There’s zero evidence that he knew anything. Can you even read?

There is an accusation under oath that he did know. Do you refuse to acknowledge that? And I’ll take that 10 out of 10 times over an op ed.

If that accusation was false attack it and discredit it. Because his silence (he made a weak ass defense) cost him a tremendous opportunity today

The fan reaction is knee jerk, but it's just that, a reaction. The fact that Currie pulled Schiano out of the candidate pool is bizarre and pathetic.

It's like blaming gasoline for reacting to a spark. Stooooopid.

Hell, you could have hired Kevin Steele and fans would have been, meh, but they wouldn't have blown up.

People that blame the fans are stupid ****s. The fans didnt hire Dooley. They didn't hire botch. They didn't have any say in this search, which was an obvious cluster ****.

For no reason? Are you purposefully dense or did you skip over the part where he allegedly saw a kid being raped in the shower? Honestly, even if he denied it, that is NOT a risk you take as an athletic director. It's just not.

Did you seriously read that op Ed? This guy stares unequivocally that has researched this case more than anyone. That statement alone is enough to make anyone reading to realize he is a hack. However the fact remains that McCreay stated under oath that Schiano knew, the fact that it was a civil trial makes no difference. Perjury is perjury and McCreary could be held accountable.

Why hasn't Schiano and Bradley sued McCreary? I think most of us would either have aired him or beat his ass.

This is simply an opinion piece that has no more validity to it than a VN post and reeks of a paid job to me.

That's a good article. Honestly, I don't know. I can see both sides. I do know that that other team's will use this agains us in recruiting heavily.

Other schools would have used the testimony by McQueary against us if we hired him. "Hey kid, do you want to play for someone who is accused of looking the other way when his DC was raping little boys" Everything associated with Penn State under Paterno is disgusting to me! Fair or not, Currie should have known this and crossed him off the list long ago.

And if we hired him, IF something came to light two years from now, these same reporters would ROAST us for hiring and supporting him.

Exactly. Needs to be above reproach. If we are accepting people with question marks... what about Hugh Freeze?
