I think he was banking on he fact that Currie appeared to be doing so little meant he had his guy. He matched that up with other coaches and their timetables and that led him to the conclusion it had to be Gruden.

No one thought Currie was possibly this terrible at his job. Unfortunately we were all wrong about that.

Amazing how you can make a solid hire without smokescreens and hiding tail numbers. He updated media at airport on his search, didn't hide he went after Chip Kelly, and somehow miraculously got a good hire anyway.

Mike Norvell makes more sense than Schiano as a backup to Mullen. At this point, I see Curry being forced out and the whole coaching search extending into January. I am astounded that Davenport would even allow Schiano to be considered. What a $*** show!!! We have become a national laughing stock.

After I realized he was going then I thought the only possible solution was that he had his guy.

I mean no way UT announces we have money to burn, forego hiring a search firm and then have this guy as a candidate. No way we can be that dumb. Made me believe even more we had someone lined up.

This guy is clueless. Walking aimlessly around ZZ last week and then goes to the Bahamas before doing this? We need to fire him tonight.

You can't take claim of the good without owning up to the bad things you thought.

Imo Currie had his list in place before the Bahamas trip and it was Dan Mullen and then Schiano. His mistake was underestimating the fans response to the Sandusky thing and I did the same. I am betting he's innocent and never thought it would be this bad. Currie got blind sided when Kelly wasn't hired at Florida and here we are.

With all that said Currie must go even though I don't blame him. It is what it is.

This s**t show today tells me we were never close to getting Gruden. People were either lying or their "sources" are garbage.

The fact is that almost no one has real inside sources. The Grumors were fun, but I hate myself for believing in them. It's such a letdown.

It's like I said in one of the earlier threads: the Grumors are fun in the same way getting really drunk is fun. You might enjoy it in the process, but the next morning you're going to wake up and hate yourself. Especially when you find Greg Schiano in bed with you.

It sucks but holy hell is it better than the alternative of being locked in to Greg Schiano as our coach for the next 2-3 years.
