This is not Tennessee Football.

Yep. And we probably wont be relevant for another 3-5 years until we get an entire coaching staff overhaul.

This isnt "just get a new coach and it's fixed" kind of deal. Not sure Tennessee has many SEC winning players today as thy had when Jones took over (about 10)

Smith, warrior, Bituli, Kirkland, Calloway, chandler, maybe Taylor and Sapp. Kelly will go pro. Rest are just guys who haven't proven anything yet IMO

Not only need a coaching staff overhaul, some of Butch's awesome recruits wouldn't start for anyone in the SEC. We're just about back where Dooley left it. 5 years wasted and another laughable buyout to another joke of a coach.. It's going to take two more classes to purge the Butch stink off this program..

Yep. We are in full blown rebuild mode. Maybe I should have said 5-7 years. These next 3-4 years are going to be really tough for us fans. Mostly 4-8 and 3-9 type seasons.

I think Brandon Johnson and Josh Palmer have a lot of upside.

Team has talent, Butch just couldn't coach it out of them. There was virtually zero player development underneath his staff. What we need is for the next HC to be a more rounded coach. He needs to be able to recruit, to develop talent to reach its potential, and to actually manage games. A good coach can win with the team we have, but he's gonna have to hire great position coaches to develop these players.

With regard to talent, I'm not sure they're all that talented. I saw a horrible Vandy team spank those boys and then rub their nose in the most historic loss in school history. Where's the talent in that?

I've watched a lot of UT football over the years and I've never seen a team lay down like that in the face of what was at stake. They didn't need talent to win that game, they just needed pride.

I hope the guys that failed to man-up find another university during the off-season.

Kelly I don't think he will be drafted. He started running with his head down. He just took the ball and ran into the lineman's butts, never once looked for an opening. He has not really proved anything after his arrest
imo

I never said Kelly would be drafted. I do think he'll bail on the college thing and try to get drafted or make a team as a free agent.

There are some potential players on the roster but you don't win next yr with potential. Not sure I see what the staff sees right now in Palmer (should have been redshirted) but damned if they didn't try to get him the ball enough this yr. If they weren't going to play Byrd anymore than they did on O he should have been moved to D, Lord knows they need help there.

Well in his defense - with our line and scheme there never was any openings. And our pretend coach jones got mad at his backs when they did not run where the play was designed

Our O-Line still hasn’t recovered from that year where Derek Dooley failed to sign a single O-Line recruit. Seemed like we were out of the woods a couple of years ago when we supposedly had solid group of experienced guys and it turned out they were soft. Without a line, we aren’t going to have much success. Even with a good coaching scheme.
