In fits of frustration I have threatened to do the same. Although I admit the pool is nice during these hot TX summers.I have a friend that had a pool at his house and he would invite my family and me over to swim in the summer. The next spring I went by his house for a visit and his back yard was grass. I asked what happened to the pool and he said he got tired of the upkeep, fixing crumbling concrete and other irritants so he filled it up with dirt and now it's a lawn.
One of the biggest benefits of having a pool and a fenced in back yard is the post yard work or exercise skinny dips.I work outside and it's really nice to come home and dive in the pool and cool off . I will tell you that I never go swimming , I just jump in and stay about 15 minutes then get out . It will refresh you for the rest of the afternoon.
Does everybody have the "one depth pool" or do yall have the kind with the deep end. We shopped for pools last year and the "guy behind the counter" said you get more use out of a pool that is 5' all the way across. Forget the deep end. Thoughts?
Talk about frustration on top of frustration...The salt system has a little flow feedback sensor that monitors flow and sends a signal back to the controller letting it know that the water is flowing well and it is good to generate chlorine from the salt water. My yellow lab puppy apparently tired of destroying her countless chew toys, our back yard furniture and the potted palm tree my wife tried to put in our back yard and decided to eat the wires from the flow sensor to the controller.
That will be an extra $200 I am going to have to spend plus trying to figure out/implement some way to keep her little puppy teeth off of it.

The potted palm tree that I alluded to was a second attempt at some greenery in our back deck/cabana area. We thought we would outsmart her by putting cayenne pepper at the base of the tree.Good luck on the Lab, we've got two Lab mixes and they have totally relandscaped the back yard. I saw them carrying off 6' landscape timbers a few days ago. They were nailed down!
I dont know exactly how it works but it's solar powered and sends a small electrical shock into the water killing everything in its path It costs about $300.00 but isn't advertised much . If it were , the sale of chemicals would drop drastictly. ( and the pool stores profits )
This guy that told you this is a gay man that enjoys the volleyball. Can you imagine going to the trouble of an inground pool only to make it 5 feet deep across? That is just silly. Seriously if you just want soething to dip in like that's shallow, I agree to get a $3-500 above ground you can take down and then put up. An inground is more of an entertainment area at times b/c when it's cold we still put the lghts on all around and then we have the music and vodka fountain... it's just so pretty at our house during football season with the jello shots and orange pool light and orange tiki torches... y'al come on down!
I just proofread with the husband and he said i was all wrong and if you don't have kids it makes sense for a one depth pool b/c it's not like y'all would do a slide or a diving board thing. However, I use my slide adn I use my diving board, my son and I race aroudn the pool. Kids need a deep end for the slide. Just use the swim vests if they don't know how to swim. Lord, pools, I can't tell you how scared I am! Love them and hate them all at once!
